    more quick mods????

Next on your list should be a roverron synergy 2. One of the members on here has also done a homemade de-cat which he reckoned improved responsiveness. Another couple of members have also junked the original moulded intake pipe replacing it with silicon hoses & alloy pipes & they say it's also...

    Timing belt - twice!

Tensioners, idlers & water pumps (if cambelt driven) should ALL be replaced every time the belt is changed no matter what any manual says & a good garage would always advise a customer that they would be best do this.

    Clutch problems - please help!!

Hey, what's wrong with being a lonely old man watching cartoons?????????????? For a good garage just outside the southside of Glasgow I recommend Rowan Garage Services in Rowan Street, Paisley (01418892844). The only thing is that they're not the cheapest of garages, but they are much cheaper...

Oil Extraction Pump - worth it or not ???

People make a big deal when they find out that the bolts holding it on are seized solid probably cause previous garages used oil extraction pumps to do the oil service. On the subject of extraction pumps, yes they will be easier but I'm old fashioned & feel a better job will be done by doing it...

Freelander 06 Front and Rear Brake Change.

Just make sure you buy decent shoes if replacing. Half worn original shoes will be better than new £16 crap from the likes of Britpart or far east no make rubbish. I got Quinton Hazell shoes for mine for around £30 through a seller on Amazon believe it or not & they are good.

The Freelander, Is It Any Good?

True, the Landy was just a copy of the Jeep. If you're worried about offroad performance & ground clearance then you really want the Defender especially as it's cheaper for you to insure.

    205 80 r16 tyres

According to the online tyre calculators the standard size is 27 inches diameter overall & the size you propose is 28.91 inches diameter overall. That's around 7% incrase in diameter which will definitely affect your speedo. As for clearance, now you have the figure you can roughly measure up to...

    brake shoe adjustment

You can gain access through a slot from behind the backplate but to be honest it isn't worth the hassle as it's quite tricky without knowing exactly what to adjust. Best take the drum off & then you'll see exactly what the layout is & more importantly what way to turn the adjuster when the drum...

Freelander 06 Front and Rear Brake Change.

Mines on 77k, just renewed my rear shoes & I had to use a small grindstone to remove the wear ridge on the lip of the drum which was causing problems when taking off the drums. In hindsight I probably should have just renewed them, it would have made the job a whole lot easier but they are still...

    Front light grills

We all had to start somewhere & I know I wouldn't have liked to start out by drilling into my cars bodywork so maybe cut the guy a little slack. Might be best for you to source one of the clip-on kits just now & keep plugging away with other jobs. You'll soon gain confidence & in a couple of...

    Freelander 1 td4 tyres

Just curious, but why do you want to fit the 80 profile tyre when the 70 profile is closest to standard. Is it cost or do you want the larger diameter for some reason?

    Freelander 1 td4 tyres

Wasn't him that mentioned the 16" wheels, it was me. That's what most standard Td4's (like mine) came with & I was using mine as a reference comparison for the overall diameter to give him an idea of how his proposed tyre change would compare to standard.

Freelander 06 Front and Rear Brake Change.

VIN YA999999 finished around year 2000 & VIN 1A000001 was 2000 & later. Look at your logbook & it's the last 8 numbers in the chassis/VIN quoted.

Surely a secondhand one that is in good condition is going to be better than the worn secondhand one already fitted to your car.

    Freelander 1 td4 tyres

My 2003 Td4 has 215/65x16 fitted as standard. The closest 15" tyre to this is the 215/70x15 which has a 0.56% (smaller) difference in overall diameter to mine. Next is the 195/80x15 which has a 1.03% (larger) difference. A 215/75x16 comes in at 2.5% (larger) The 215/80x15 you propose has...

Can anyone help, I'd be very grateful :)

Don't like the sound of the whining gearbox, ticking noise from engine & water loss. They could be very simple things like gearbox needing a change of fluid, sticking hydraulic tappet, simple fluid leak from somewhere but more likely it could be expensive & more serious especially the...
