It's nice to finally see a long overdue charitable cause here in the UK being addressed at last. Well done Hippo & on behalf off all the Tratter boys under their rustbuckets right now with gaffer tape & your donations we say THANKYOU.

    floor tray mats

Forget cheap crap, you'll regret it as they'll slide all over the place. Genuine landrover mats aren't cheap but are the best. I picked up a secondhand set a year ago for a wallet busting £40 but were still excellent & still are 1 year on.

    Track Rod Ends!!!

I've got FAI wishbones on my car fitted 2 years ago & they seem well made & good value. Pretty sure they'll do the track rod ends as they also sell balljoints on there own for the wishbones. If you're after a good quality mid priced set then Quinton Hazell are a good make & will be around...

    Newbie - list of questions

I don't find the steering heavy but I prefer a more weighted wheel to give me more feel. Others though have also found it to be heavy & compared to a mk1 Rav4 it is very heavy. Depends on what you're used to driving before I guess. Hope you ordered genuine but pricey landrover mats. They...

    Buying advice

All depends how cheap you can get it & how the rest of it is. Really though you need a proper test drive so get them to clear space & get it out into the open or if they wont then walk away. Also do your reverse on full lock trick to see if it moves ok or not. My auto will happily reverse on...

    Rear tyre puncture

Most of the string repair kits are classed as temporary & not for use above 50mph. In America they sell a kit called Dynaplug which over there is classed as permanent & is safe for use up to 90mph. You can buy them on ebay but they aren't the cheapest though the plugs self vulcanise to become...

    2 stroke oil in diesel

Who'd be daft enough to still have one? On the 2-stroke oil, I'd never heard of it so like many of the other guys I'm interested to see how you get on with it. I use millers as well & it's brilliant with a small increase in economy along with an improvement in performance though I've got...

Freelander Freestyle 06 with 16.500 miles

Hope you checked out the road tax on that as the last Td4 autos came in around the £430 mark per year (might have gone up from that). Apart from that it sounds a very nice car. Agree with the others about giving it a service & checking out the brakes.

M47 Pressure Converter Issue and Turbo

Freelander vacuum solenoid has an external filter which hangs down behind the airbox (between it & the bulkhead). It loks like an old style fuel filter that cars with carburettors sometimes had fitted.

    oil filter housing nut

I do for this as I always overtighten bolts. What feels tight to one person can feel very loose to another & if it's a fragile fastening I use a torque wrench.

    Rear Brake Noise

Mines done the same since replacing my shoes though it isn't too bad. A new set of drums would probably cure it but I'm not too concerned as braking is much improved & it only does it under light braking.

    Please help

I've copied the following over from a post I made on another thread by someone asking a similar question. Hope it helps. My 2003 Td4 has 215/65x16 fitted as standard. The closest 15" tyre to this is the 215/70x15 which has a 0.56% (smaller) difference in overall diameter to mine. Next...
