LT230 new diff gears feel rough

When I overhauled my transfer box 2 years ago i was faced with an identical problem. Actually I believe that if you search my posts you might see when I posted and I believe James Martin responded with the same response as above. I replaced the cross pins in the center diff with the single type...

Thanks for the replies. After weighing our options it seems best course is to take the head off for peace of mind.

    Power Steering Not Working?

My power steering would randomly get very stiff some 2 years ago. The shaft in the pump had failed. If I recall correctly there was a small key on the shaft which was completely worn. Only when it occasionally caught on the pump internals did the pump start to build pressure, hence the random...

    300tdi - 2 Broken Valve Springs

I would go with #3 above. Is this something we can get away with by just replacing springs and setting valve clearances?

    300tdi - 2 Broken Valve Springs

Greetings, I have a friend with a 300tdi defender that he just bought "as is" from its previous owner. We have been trying to start it but with no success. We have confirmed that the starter, injection pump and timing are all ok however, upon removing the rocker cover we discovered not one...

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Agreed. Simple things first. No chuffing heard but the soapy water test did cross my mind. I will report back with my findings. Thanks.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Been leaking for about 4-5 weeks. Might have been there before but it became very noticeable after I re-installed the injectors after getting them cleaned and pressure tested. Perhaps I damaged the face whilst trying to remove cold copper washers with a screwdriver. Re-cutting the housing/port...

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

I will have to take a closer look at the cover to see if it is indeed at fault. You are correct in pointing out that they can be a pain to get tightened down square and evenly.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Can this problem be a sign of worn piston rings/ oil seal? I am lost as to where all of this oil is coming from. And only from one injector port whereas the others are dry.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

The hole the injector goes into.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Everywhere else is dry. It is definitely coming from around injector housing.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Question is.. where will it be leaking from? Spill rail is not leaking.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Yes sir I did. Genuine, and installed the right way round also. Even cleaned out housing first.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Two things I have noticed recently: 1. Starting on mornings (cold start) usually takes 2 attempts at swinging. Fires up on the second attempt each and every time. Compression issue? 2. I am seeing a little blueish smoke from exhaust at idle. (Not only at startup. All the time. It is barely...

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

Rocker cover seal replaced the same time as injector seals. Area was cleaned and all hoses in good condition. Can this oil not be blowing past the seal? Remember when the injector was removed it was coated in oil.

Oil leaking from injector housing.. bad news??

300tdi Engine reading 90,000 miles Issue: Oil running from injector #2 housing despite two attempts at sealing it using brand new copper washers. When injector #2 is removed the body is covered in oil whereas the other 3 injectors are only coated with fuel when removed. The images attached...

    300tdi Heater Unit by-pass

Weather is hot all year round where I live. I have never used the heater before. Was actually considering removing it completely. I guess now's my chance.

    300tdi Heater Unit by-pass

I was afraid that blanking the ports on the engine will cause some issue with the circulation of coolant. I don't mind joining the hoses but I will have to come uo with a way to secure them in the engine bay.

    300tdi Heater Unit by-pass

Hi, Got out of the defender yesterday to be greeted by coolant running down off of the Front passenger-side mud flap bracket and pooling on the ground. Further examination revealed a leaking heater unit. Fortunately I was at work and had access to the workshop so I cut a piece of copper pipe...
