Law on Bull Bars re pre 2007 Defenders

He's a well built fellow  He'd probably tear your bull bar off and shove it where the sun don't shine.

    Prop shaft alignment

Yes I know about marking a dismantled prop that's obvious and makes sense but if you look on here or any motoring DIY type site they pretty much always say to mark the flanges so the prop goes back on in the same orientation. I've been working on motors for over 40 years, cars, bikes, 4X4s...

    Landrover bare 90 chassis

No body is jumping the gun or accusing you of anything. As part of the Land Rover community you must be aware of the epidemic of stolen Land Rovers and the black market in stolen parts. Chassis without ID's are one thing that will always cause suspicion because it is one of the items...

insa turbo specials and free style alloys

Adjust your lock stops to prevent rubbing and either put up with the turning circle or fit spacers, I don't think you need to go as big as 30mm, 15mm would probably do the job with 265 tyres.

    Landrover bare 90 chassis

You should not be trying to sell a chassis without ID. Its only "legal" use would be for an unregistered off roader. The suspicious amongst us might ask how you come to have a chassis without ID in your possession?

    Prop shaft alignment

This morning I changed the rear diff' end prop U/J to cure some vibration at certain speeds. As I was always told to, I marked the prop so I could ensure it went back on in the same orientation. Why, if you think about it new props are balanced before they go on the vehicle, if you replaced...

    No more leaks!

I cured the only leak in my 90 hardtop (other than the door seals, which I still haven't managed to sort) by running a bead of clear silicone in the joint between the front and rear parts of the hardtop.

    Lop sided on parabolics

Series land Rovers with genuine suspension sit a little high on the drivers side by design, that's why the springs are different. I can't remember why but the answer will be out there on the tinterweb if you search.

Spare wheel, where should it live?

That's what I've done with mine, and then lined it with rubber carpet tiles, it works for me.

Spare wheel, where should it live?

I think a swing away rear carrier is the best option all round, mine is on the floor in the back covered in a false floor at wheel box level. I don't really use mine for carrying much stuff so taking up part of the load area is not an issue for me.

    Are remoulds any good?

Insa turbo tyres are used by lots of members on here, they seem to have a good reputation although I haven't used them myself. The last remoulds I had were Kingpin SAT's on a diesel S111 they seemed ok but tyre shredding performance is not a diesel S111 strong point.

Defender Stolen Sheffield City Centre Late 6th Jan / Early 7th Jan

We need to know who these scumbags are and where they were working from. I know quite a few people in South Yorks who would like a little chat with them.

Another Ebay 'darling'. Legit or blatant ringer?

Y reg (suffix) would be 1982. s111 88" were produced from "72 to "85. I suspect the registration number is the only thing dating to this period on the vehicle.

    Eicher products

Pagid are not Eurocarparts own brand they are one of the largest manufacturers of brake parts in Europe and they are OEM for many major car manufacturers. I'm sure they do have some sort of deal going with Eurocarparts but don't make the mistake of thinking they are some sort of pattern cheapo...

    How amazing are rotary engines.

Because the Deltic is the most awesome, out of this world engine design ever to make it into commercial production. I remember standing in front of the cutaway train engine in the York railway museum for ages, just looking at the complexity and wondering what kind of pharmaceuticals the original...

    Axle Stands Debate

I don't like using axle stands used for supporting all four corners, that Disco would not need much of a shove to have it on the floor. I'm happy to use axle stands for one corner or one axle but for lifting the whole vehicle I prefer to use something a bit more substantial.

300tdi on a galv chassis will get you a better motor for the same sort of money, I wouldn't worry about year or mileage too much, condition is the most important thing.

    Drilling hard steel.

Some time ago I bought some DeWalt Extreme drill bits to do a job I was struggling with using normal HSS and Cobalt bits, very impressed.
