    Confirmed 2018 Defender news,

So the new Defender is going to be more expensive than the Discovery? Can't see current Defender owners, old and new, queueing up to buy one. As I have posted on here before I don't think JLR want the off road/utility/farmer business any more. Their push into the expensive life...

Todays the day, no more Defenders,

I think the main problem is that there seems to be no attempt at rust proofing at all, the coating on a new defenders chassis is just transport black, the stuff used to protect steel before its painted properly. Considering how much they cost and how much extra it would be to galvanise them from...

    Cubby box

That's the one I fitted in mine. I fitted two 1" square lengths of wood to each side of the base of the cubby and then screwed through the gearbox cover plate into them. Makes the thing sit at the right height and makes fitting easy.

    Defender 90

As for your price I would say "priced to sell" I've been looking at the rising prices of Defenders recently and it seems £3k buys you a "Project" with no MOT and a lot of work.

    Cubby box

I think all the later series and earlier coil sprungs up to the td5 are the same pumas may be different though, mine came from Paddocks and its fine I can't see spending more would get something better unless you fancy an aluminium one.

    The end of the Defender

We keep being told "The famous 4x4's fate was sealed by European laws on safety and emissions" Not sure I believe it, Jeep continue to produce the wrangler which has an even longer history than the Defender. Merc' are still making the G Waggon which has a similar design. I'm sure if JLR wanted...

    Front steering Bar

What he said.... the little tool from paddocks makes the changing the drop arm ball joint dead easy. (Todays interesting but pointless fact......"Pitman Arm" is the proper name for the arm that comes off the steering box)

    Air impact wrench

Cheapo air impact guns are rubbish, I have the same kind of setup as you and I've tried (bought?) a few cheapo ones and they wouldn't undo anything remotely tight, then I borrowed an Ingersol Rand gun and that was a whole world away, that did what I expected.

    Insurance... HOW MUCH....

Got my insurance renewal from Lancasters this morning £340.....HOW MUCH..... A 70% increase that's how much. Same vehicle, same drivers, same circumstances, nothing's changed since last year. Can't see Lancasters getting my business this year.

    brake pads

When I do brakes I usually use Pagid stuff from Eurocarparts. Sensible prices and a lot of manufacturers use Pagid for original fitment, never had a problem with them.
