Progress has been made. Its a loose connection somewhere. Went over a pothole tonight and the light came on.

Rear door was/is £70 off ebay. Guy I bought the defender from was bidding on it when I bought it so he arranged for me to get the door instead.

I suppose alot is down to the tester. Depends how much they know about fenders i guess.

Related question - how bad a hole would be an MOT failure in a rear crossmember? I found a rotton spot in mine today. Prev owner only had it MOTd about 6 weeks ago.

Get a landrover magazine and try the specialists in the classifieds. TBH though, any insurance for a 17y/o will be steep.

I have a defender rear door needs collecting in derby before the end of the coming weekend. Ideally meeting 1/2 way would be handy, somewhere between newark/nottingham. If not, i'll be driving the lot :D

Im feeling lucky right now, i live about 20miles from kirton. Pass it most days on the way to work. Part of my reason for getting a defender was so i could have a go round there!

Ive done mine today. Used a wire brush/scraper to clean it up then put the hammerite kurust treatment on 1st then coated in hammerite black. Looks good but now the rest of the back end looks shabby lol

Depends what your budget is and which part of the county. There are a few landrover dealers around here with P/Xs and new stuff. Mostly V expensive. 2nd hand sales are hard to come by. Ive been up to yorkshire twice last week looking at defenders.
