My crazy diff ratio change idea

You are right it was the seventh word, it was the first sentence that ended with it. That fundamentally changes everything, oh wait it doesn't, it makes no difference, and here we have another gotcha comment. I don't know if you are mentally challenged or unable to read English but I have...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I was not offended by one word, I was offended by a whole series of attacks over several days by many people. The point was that the belittling started from the very beginning from the very first word. If that word had been the only thing that had been said in a patronizing way, then I would...

    Gap tool near Luton Airport

I could get into that whole thing, buy a laptop from eBay, buy cables, download software etc. But why would I invest that time when it really just needs someone with the right system to fix it in 10 minutes? Almost a year ago I was talking with several people on eBay about what they were...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I am not really sure why you keep attacking my OBD reader when it is one of the better known brands and there are many videos on YouTube with Range Rover enthusiasts in the UK using this brand with great effect. Yes it is not the top of the range gap tool but it is perfectly good and has a wide...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

You said: "If your diffs new diffs fit physically." I have enough reason to believe they will fit based on the information that I have received here and another places. You said: "Your torque converter will spend more time out off lockup." The jury is still out on that. It depends on what...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

Thanks. People drive at 1,300 RPM at lower speeds for long periods and have no concern for the water or oil pressure. If it was running at 500 RPM I would consider that fact, but it will be running in a typical rev range.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I'm not going to scrap it immediately. Maybe in a few years time when I leave England. On my one month trip to Portugal and back I needed to not break down and therefore I would prefer to run it at a lower RPM.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

My gearbox did not have a hard time, it had about three days of missing gear changes on a 10 minute drive, and then I stopped driving it, found the leak, fixed it and filled it up again.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I was not offended by it. But have a look at the second comment. Then the third comment, the fourth comment, the fifth comment, the six comment etc. But if you want to call it banter then everything that I have said back to you guys is just banter. When I call you guys idiots for saying really...

And for the 3rd time I will find this out with my OBD reader so I'm not worried.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I'm not driving it there to scrap it on this trip, instead I need it to make it all the way there and back without any problems. I have stated repeatedly that this will be a return trip. It may be another few years before I leave England and at that future time I will scrap it. Unless somebody...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I will leave England for somewhere else in Europe and I have three dogs so I will need to drive to my new home. I will take my current car there and wreck it. Unless somebody wants to come and buy the car from me and drive the car back to England at their own expense. When I moved from...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

And I said many times that I will be running the car with very little load.

    L322 NV225 solenoid leak

I have the o-rings and I will tell you how it goes when I do it. On the seal I contacted a distributor of SKF and they think that they can help me. I am waiting to hear back from them next week before I do the work on the car.

My crazy diff ratio change idea

All I am saying is that the ZF 8 speed gearbox is not optimized for British speeds. Yes it is used by many manufacturers but it is made in Germany and they will have considered the autobahn. Anyway I'm not really concerned about this because my OBD reader will give me the answer that I need...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I didn't want to know the answer to my question, I was just pointing out that a question can be worded in a way to be an insult to somebody. Given all of the insults that I've had here I just assumed it was another one. If you wanted to ask about the gearbox then ask it on the gearbox thread...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

My OBD reader is iCarSoft and it is great. For my specific model of L322 none of the OBD readers or the SSD computers can work on the suspension settings. I spent 2 weeks researching which one to buy. Only the gap tool can do what I need, or a garage with an older SDD setup. It was £120...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

And DIRECTLY after that I said... "But my major concern is running the engine for a long time on a highway at a higher RPM than necessary." Do you have any more gotcha questions?

My crazy diff ratio change idea

That's not exactly what Phil said but I'm not going to argue the details with you. Differential changes may have an effect on the gearbox but that will be on every gearbox not anything unique to my specific gearbox. You asked me a specific question about my gearbox and in there was the...

My crazy diff ratio change idea

I looked at your PDFs. While the gearbox has those two sensors it also has information about which gear it is in, the road speed of the car (from the ABS), the throttle position and the RPM of the engine. I'm not surprised that the eight speed does not lock up easily given that it was probably...
