What have you done to your Landie today.

Started stripping the 90 in preparation for new swivels and a calliper overhaul, new seals and wheel bearings while I'm at it.

    In Car Entertainment

I bought a half price Sony from Halfords and a pair of 4" speakers mounted right above my head in some Mudstuff pods in my LaSalle headlining. The set up is fine for listening to Ken Bruce or a Led Zep CD.

    hub / swivel differences

I might be wrong here, I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I am. IIRC there are two types of swivel arrangements fitted to the D1 one is for ABS models and the other for none ABS. They are I believe interchangeable, one has a hole in the upper pin for the ABS sensor. D2 axles and...

    South yorkshire

I must have missed this thread when it started but I'm up for a meet. Especially if there's beer and chips. Happy to lend a hand with spannering too if I can help, also I've got one or two special tools for working on landrovers I'm happy to share that helps. Perhaps we could set up a PM...

    90 gearbox vibration/clonk

+1 That's where my £1 bet would go.

    Brake fluid

The RRC is no different to any other car. Start at the brake furthest away from the master cylinder and bleed each calliper in turn, do all three nipples (if there are three) one at a time. I changed all 12 brake pipes on a RRC for a guy and they bled through fine. Its worth giving each...

    How much waxoyl?

When I did mine I used the waxoyl underseal stuff that comes in schutz cans. I used 5 of them on the outside and a further 3 litres of normal waxoil inside the chassis. Hope this helps.

    Runway Enduro A/T Tyre Review

+1 I have these (235 85 R16) on my 90 and I agree, for a budget tyre they are pretty good. I rate them better than the Pirelli Scorpions I had fitted before.

Need a defender dog guard fitted at sensible cost

2 hrs :wtf: I made my own and fitted it in less than that.

    RIP Blacksheep offroad

That's the ticket, move to gods chosen county (Yorkshire you heathens) rents are cheap, the beer's good and we have (in Sheffield at least) lots of engineering works still in business. A Land Rover specialist would fit in real well.

    RIP Blacksheep offroad

Very sorry to see a 'proper' bloke packing it in. The "fender" boys will sorely miss you. It has to be asked, what are you going to do now? Has the Landrover world lost your you for good?

    eek

I think the upshot of all this is JLR want out of the utility truck business. No matter how much we bleat about it the replacement for the Defender is not going to be anything like what we want i.e. a modern take on the existing model.
  16. waldershelf

    eek

One of the things that gets spouted every time we are told the Defender has to be replaced is EU regs on pedestrian safety. How come Mercedes still make the G wagon and Jeep still import the Wrangler? both have very similar frontal profiles.

    Series disc brake conversion

I'd love to see what your insurance company will say when you tell them you've fitted a set of home made brakes. Nice bit of engineering all the same.

Is their anything wrong with an 18mm socket?

I think I've still got a Kemp's in the loft and a Spears and an Merk I had a varied career.
