    Swivel kit identification help

If you are going to use one shot grease after fitting the new swivels, don't fill to the level plugs. One shot comes in a measured quantity sachet one for each housing, you only fill to the level plug if using oil.

    shattered wheel bearings

For a bearing to fail in the way you describe I reckon you have over-tightened them. As others have said fitting the bearings is easy when you know how, get it wrong and they fail.

    200tdi Defender 90 - Can I fit a disco transfer box?

If you just want to up the gearing a bit, why not just fit some larger diameter tyres, I went from 205/80/16 to 235/85/16 (which is the standard size for the current 90) this effectively increased my gearing by c10%. The benefits are a higher top speed, more relaxed cruising, slightly improved...

    Brake pipes gone.

Buy a flair tool and do it yourself, I did every pipe including the flexibles on my 90 in an afternoon, the only help I had was a mates foot for bleeding them.

    Stainless steel brake hoses

Goodridge are pretty much the best in the business, £80ish should get you a set.

    New defender (again)

The latest from "AutoExpress" New Land Rover Defender DC100 concept revealed | News | Auto Express Suggests it will be 2018 before we see the new defender, whatever it turns out to be. It seems to me that that, will put a definite divide between the old and new, potentially getting rid of the...

    wheel cylinder seal kits

If you do go down the seal route, buy genuine or OEM don't buy anything in a blue box or you could end up in a ditch.

    Best trolley jack

Lets not get too carried away with jacks. remember jacks are for lifting, no matter how good (you think) your jack is always use proper supports before going under your Landy.

    Best trolley jack

I've got one of these https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ctj3000g-3-tonne-professional-garage-j It's big but it lifts the 90 easily and is very stable.

    Landrover 90 speed

My bog standard 300tdi 90 on 235/85/16 tyres will do a true 85mph (satnav verified) It's very noisy, scarily unstable and I won't be doing it again. 60mph in the inside lane with the lorries is quite enough.

    Tripe

My dog likes tripe, actually so do I, served hot with onions in white sauce and lots of ground black pepper. Sometimes when I was a kid we went to the castle market in Sheffield, we used to get small portions of tripe in trays with salt and vinegar for a few pennies.

    New chassis

As the rattler says, cut out the numbers from the old chassis and keep them then scrap the old chassis. Remember the ID for the vehicle goes with the chassis if you sell the old one theoretically you lose the registration and ownership title to the vehicles ID. If you are using Richards for your...

Interesting article on new Defender from MSN Autos

I don't think anyone including ludites like me would defend (sic) the current or even recent Defenders they are a poor design, built badly from poor quality parts. There is no doubt it needs replacing with a more modern vehicle, however, there is no reason Land Rover can't stick to the basics...

Interesting article on new Defender from MSN Autos

Mercedes seem to manage with the G Wagon and JEEP are still selling the wrangler. We need to face facts, Land Rover are no longer interested in making vehicles for farmers, utility companies etc and me. The only historic connection to the new "Defender" is the name and the advertising...

    Pattern vs OEM

I don't tend to buy anything in a Land Rover box if I can avoid it, simply because of the stupid prices they charge. Unless there are no acceptable alternatives. I try and use OEM (another vote for LRDirect) wherever possible for any parts that are remotely critical. Unless there are no...

    Landrover bare 90 chassis

I'm sure someone will be along to correct me if I'm wrong. If you are re-chassising yours you will be transferring the numbers to your new chassis. If that is the case you should be cutting the old one up for scrap. At the very least you should be cutting out the bit with the chassis number on...
