    Passed the MOT

Well one year on it passed the MOT again, with no advisories and this year I've done no prep at all. It's been parked up since June as It's no longer my daily driver, it's going back to being what I bought it for, a toy.

    Fuel pump timing pin set

I bought a cheap kit from ebay, all the bits in the nice red plastic box seem well made and fit for purpose. I've used the kit to do belts on 200/300tdi's with no problems. I think most of these kits, regardless of brand name and price, are actually the same. I suppose if you were doing belts...

1996 Defender Breaks - Brake Pressure Reducing valve Leak??

I'm not sure why you need to replace the rear calipers? if the PRV is leaking then replace it and bleed the brakes. Rear caliper problems are a separate issue.

    when the wheels come off

There is something about Land Rover alloy wheels of a certain age, if I take the alloy wheels off my 90, refit them and torque them up, a few miles later they will need torqueing up again. My mate had a Disco 1 same problem nearly lost a wheel until he learned to retighten them after a short run.

    Ratchet Axle Stands

I have four 3 tonners that I use all the time, hey are more than up to the job. The ratchet mechanism is no more likely to fail than any other stand design.

Defender 90 Brakes are awful; few questions :)

Standard brakes on the defender are absolutely fine. If you need to pump them to get a good pedal you almost certainly have air in the system somewhere. If the calipers/pads/discs are in good nick the poor braking problem likely lies in the master cylinder/servo. Don't forget that depending on...

    Wood turning lathe for sale

I have an old, well used wood turning lathe for sale it might be getting on a bit but it works perfectly. It has a 3 jaw chuck, two different size drive face plates, a drive centre, two tool rests and a set of turning tools. I'd like £50, collect from South Yorkshire. PM me if you are interested.

    Essential Workshop Tools

And a good selection of hammers my favourite is a Thor size 3 with one hide face and one copper face, for the delicate jobs. For the more serious stuff a 7lb sledge is just the job. I've been working on Land Rovers for so long I can swing it with one hand.

Series 3 Brake/clutch bleeding with syringe or eezibleed

I too bought a gunsons easibleed, what a waste of time. I have a piece of tube with a non return valve in it and a clear plastic bottle. Add some fresh fluid and a mate with a right foot, never fails.

    Leaky swivels

Don't buy a kit, buy the swivels from Britpart (yes that's one component that comes in a blue box that's OK) and buy genuine (or OEM if you can they're cheaper) bearings and seals, Pattern parts are a waste of time for seals and bearings

    Dog Guard!

I think you would be better with a cage. Your dog will be safer, you will retain some luggage space and they are a lot cheaper than a proper dog guard. Easier to fit and remove too using small ratchet straps.

    Range Rover - Porsche dilemma

There are currently 6 959s for sale on pistonheads one's for auction at Sotherby's, two are in California without price tags, one is POA. The other too are £750k and £675k. If you really fancy a 959 you might have to put a few quid in on top of the RR.

    Range Rover - Porsche dilemma

I like the 968 especially the turbo version for the extra performance but they are very rare. Arguably the 968 is nicer to drive than the 911 of the same era, the 50/50 weight distribution makes the handling a bit more predictable.
