Engine Cutting, and vacuum in Turbo - help...

Very neat job, I'll start looking for a 200 airbox. Same setup as mine, EDC auto with ABS. Always nice to see how it'll look so thanks for the pics.

Engine Cutting, and vacuum in Turbo - help...

I was looking at a 200 filter but was worried I'd not have enough room for a second battery.

Engine Cutting, and vacuum in Turbo - help...

Well it took me a couple of months to motivate myself but I removed my exhaust manifold/turbo and sorted out my seized wastegate. The difference it has made to driving the Disco is amazing, it's been stuck shut for well over a year so it's like having a new car. With the alternator removed...

yes, mine passed a couple of months ago after I fitted a 'sports' decat system.

    Spring shopping list

Turret rings for the front. Mine looked OK and soaked with WD40 the day before but still snapped 2 studs on each side when taking them off. My spring seats looked bad but once cleaned up I reused them but might be worth poking them before you start the job.

    Discovery 1 rear window defroster

I think the side windows are radio aerials rather than demisters.

    Engine trouble wont start

Could the alternator have siezed ? Try starting it without the aux belt on.

clean or replace that is the question

The bottom thumbscrew is likely to shear but there's bolt on the top-middle (12mm I think) which allows you to take the whole sedimenter off. Don't lay underneath it when you undo it though!! I put a freeze bag around it to catch the fuel.

Windows won't go up when ignition off.

Didn't know it was restricted to putting the windows up, but if that's the case I would think it is controlled by the window ECU rather than something external.

Windows won't go up when ignition off.

Same here, 1998 D1 (jap import) windows are live after switching off until a door is opened. Not sure about removing the key, might just be switching off. Not sure what controls the power feed, I suspect it will be the MFU rather than the window ECU ?

    Manual or Auto

loads of threads on this if you search, it's basically down to personal preference. Mine's an auto which I originally bought for road use but started laning after a few years and like the auto box just as much off road. I'm always in the right gear so one less thing to worry about and I never...

    Engine runs for 15 minutes

I was wondering about the textured effect on the power steering reservoir as well !

    EGR clean or blank.

Blanking will be quicker, cheaper and easier. And you'll only need to do it once.

    Whine from autobox

Would be my suggestion as well. Noticed similar on my 300 auto.

    Discovery 300 TDI diagnostic plug

That explains why the garage were unable to get a fault code when my engine check light came on, didn't realise it wasn't OBD.

    Discovery 300 TDI diagnostic plug

Here's the port on my Jap import.........just above where your clutch pedal shouldn't be :)

    Police springs confusion?

It really isn't safe to do any work on a car that's just resting on a jack, other than just changing the wheel. Only takes 2 seconds to push the stand under and lower the car onto it. Putting safety first makes me feel really old now:D

    Police springs confusion?

I think you'll get away without a compressor if you're fitting std height springs. I supported the chassis with axle stands and unbolted the ARB before lowering the axle. Original springs just fell out but keep an eye on the flexi brake hoses and ABS wiring if you have it.
