Did you do it with the liner still in place?

Mine is fauty too, but it seems to be distance related. I can be sat ticking over or in traffic as I leave work and the dash light keeps flashing. As soon as I get to the same point in the road (roughly) the light is steady and I am at the correct height. Weird.

How did you get your old gasket off? Mine was stuck solid. My new pump went on without any problems and at tickover the engine sounds nice now. No whistling of dry bearings.

But he says he can jump out the relay to get it to pump. The thermal cutout must be ok. There would be no way to bypass the cutout without jumping it locally on the compressor. Even with the relay jumped out it would still need to pass through the cutout. Unless the cutout just signals the ECU.
