Start by checking earths and the connectors in passenger footwell. They get wet !

Similar issue on my petrol 2A, it was indeed the push button switch. Take off give it a good clean, make sure earths are good and try again.

If this was a Series I would remove rear prop', go for a drive and see if noise stops. Tyres have to have equal wear, but Haldex failure is common.

Disconnect the battery negative before removing starter.

Yea, I've had good and bad experiences with autodoc. Not sure they actually have some of the stuff they advertise.

I belive Prestone say it can be used as replacement but I keep it for top ups.

Be aware that if you modify that could lead to increased insurance. Do it properly and get it checked.
