    Jacking points

The front point is the hold down eye. Make sure your jack doesn't touch the bodywork surrounding it. PUT axle stands under the side members. Don't take any chances.

    Anyone recognise this freelander?

It seems dealers in the south buy from dealers in the north - so much cheaper there. At least that's what we found when looking for a TD4 a year ago, some many cars had northern details on them.

Freelander 1 Fornt brake lower guide pin stuck

Exactly the problem we had. Two types of guide pins. Early brakes have plain pins you have later type.. Your top pins are plain the lower ones have a plastic sleeve which deteriorates with age. No sign of rust. Copper grease doesn't help. We bought a guide pin set part no SEE100340 @ £18. Comes...

    Brake discs and pads ?????

Bought Mintex pads and discs from Paddock Motors @ £70 delivered. We have just done both our TD4's but fitted new lower guide pins on one as existing were rather stiff. Guide pins are part number SEE100340 and very different to the guide pins used on non vented disc brakes.

Not that it helps in this case but not all pads are handed. Mintex certainly are not.

    Key + Fob

[quote=Optimus Prime;1970027]just get a blank key cut, it will work in the drivers door lock to unlock it, doesn't need a fob or the transponder in the key. the transponder is only for the ignition. About a month ago I had to get a taxi home - and back - to pick up my spare key/fob after...

    Haynes v Rave Brake Piston

Before removing the lower sliders I imagined they should slide as easily as the top ones. However the lower ones have a plastic sleeve over the pin and although this is clean and copper greased it is much stiffer to move than the top slider. I am hopeing that this is normal as the brakes appear...

    Satnav

to check your unit perform a system reset - press the TP button and multi button 1 or 3 (the small ones normally used for radio presets) - watch the display closely in the right hand side - if it displays ANT ERROR you probably have a faulty antenna due to leaking around the radio aerial /...

    Haynes v Rave Brake Piston

Took your time in replying James, must have been all of 30 seconds!! Many thanks. Hopefully will save the £20 a kit of pins cost.

    Haynes v Rave Brake Piston

Just fitted new Mintex discs and pads ( £70 delivered from Paddock) but notice that on each caliper the lower guide pins are extremely tight, the top ones slide easily. I can buy a set of guide pins but wonder if this is necessary, can they can be taken out and cleaned? Any ideas?

    Haynes v Rave Brake Piston

On fitting new disc brake pads its necessary to push the piston back. Rave says release the bleed screw, etc, but haynes says simply push it back. Which is best?

[/I] Helpful answers. Very strange colour IMHO. Good thing you have partially changed it.

TD 4 Auto Very slow to change gear when cold

I would point out that this feature is not nearly so pronounced on a V6. In fact until we got a TD4 we barely noticed it.
