    oil change

Sounds a bit like doing the brake fluid. Never let the system empty as there are pockets in the brake modulator that if filled with air you can't get out again without using specialist kit. Here Tincan, I gather you've tried Joyces in Trowbridge.

    Frelenader 2l di

The only suggestions I can offer is to either get the clutch out and refurbish it, or live with it. Not much else you can do.

    brake fliud renewal

Good tip to be had here if they ain't shifting. Someone else on here came up with this one so I can't claim the credit. Put the backend of a suitably sized drill bit in the nipple hole before you undo it. Stops it collapsing.

    Freelander security

The security is good. Dead locked doors, coded ignition (transponder in the squeaker), CCU manages imobliser to the ECU so there is no single point to attack. All good stuff.

Why can freelander drive well in snow/ice?

My Hippo was just outstanding in the snow and I put it through some trials so that I can find what it can't do. I failed in my quest as it took every thing in its stride. I even took it down a 1 in 10 decent, single track lane, loads of bends and covered in sheet ice. The HDC worked...

    Heater is rubbish

The heater leaves a lot to be desired but mine does do the job eventually. Check your coolant level is okay and bleed the hose into the heater matrix so to make sure you've got maximum water circulation.

Buying original equipment is a good policy - NOT!!

Drop link replaced tonight. Top joint totally shot, about 2mm of movement in it. Was sure it wasn't that long ago that I changed both links and I discovered in my financial records that I bought them on the 14th September last year. So that makes them seven months old. I also discovered...

    MPG close shave

Last October I was pulling the Pikey wagon ove in East Anglia. I had got to Bury and looked at the fuel gague and reasoned I had enough for Lowestoft. Rolling into Bungay and I looked down and wondered where the needle had gone!! It was below the red line  Crawled onto the Gt Yarmouth...

    Just bought a V6

Ouch!! Don't do it. Its gonna cost to fuel it. If the gasket go then I believe I am correct in saying the engines gotta come out to strip it down. That means transmission, sub frame, frount suspension all out The wet liners are the problem as they aren't supported properly in the base of...

Buying original equipment is a good policy - NOT!!

That though went through my mind as well. When I get the link off I can have a closer look. I'll also give the independent a call and ask him about their origin. True. The joint has suddenly gained a lot of slack. Something is breaking down quickly and I'm begining to wonder if the...

Buying original equipment is a good policy - NOT!!

About a year ago I had a knocking from the front suspension. Investigation showed play in one of the drop link joints. Assumption was made that as the forces transmitted through one drop link joint, is transmitted through all four joints, then all joints are potentially worn. As a result I...

    Air con trouble

Attention all L series Hippo owners. You might want to check this!! I had the air con fixed today. The pipe was replaced, the system was nitrogen pressure tested, evacuated, and recharged with oil and R134. System goes like a good un, and well it should. I am now short of 330 squid...

    Beasty has lost the plot

I too find this 'burn the freelander, doors fall off, gay hairdressers' and so on, very tiresome now. Just cus some numpty backed his freelander up while washing it, with a rear door open and smashed said door off on something solid, is not a reflection on the car. True the Freelander is more...
