    freelander wheel bearing

Have you done this before? You are going to need a torque wrench that can give you 295 foot pounds to do the hub nut up again. You should replace the nut as a matter of course. Some good engineering tools such as a decent bench and vice and a good bearinig puller will be needed I suspect.

    Freelander Belt Change

Haynes make no mention of a bevelled pulley, all pictures and illustrations show a standard, flat arrangement as would be expected. RAVE shows the same. You sure you got the right part there?

Rear tail gate dooor and window won`t open

The problem is the window. When you operate the handle to open the back door you actually operate a switch. This signals to the Central Control unit (CCU), which first instructs the window to drop a shade, a switch in the motor assembly indicates that the window has dropped. The CCU uses...

Sorry boys, where is my crank case filter located?

Shouldn't be much cleaning to do. The part that is in the air duct isl probably be covered in oil but no dust as the air filter will stop all that. If there is any suspision that it is defective then it has to be replaced.

Sorry boys, where is my crank case filter located?

The MAF is the Mass airflow temperature sensor. It is located in the induction tract. I don't have a TD4 but from the info I have on it I understand it is located on the side closest to the coolant expansion bottle.

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Sounds to me like sludge is not your problem in that case. I am not familiar with the in-tank pump but I would not be surprised if the gauze in part of the pump assembly. Would be silly if it was not.

What MPG do you get from your Flander

Further to this, the tank was not full when I removed the Tunit module. However I have now run the car down to the red line and the result was 420 miles and used 54.3 litres of juice. That works out as 35.16MPG average. This is not an improvement on the figures before the box was removed...

What MPG do you get from your Flander

djewson, your figures are impressive. Is your Hippo in 2WD only or is it proper 4WD? What is your style of driving, light footed or enthusiastic on the throttle? Whats your tyres and what pressures do you run? All useful stuff as saving juice is a serious issue now. Thanks, Dave

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

Basically, Yes. You have to open the top of the tank and go in and inspect and clean. If the tank is pretty full, and it sounds like it is then you would be wise to drain it down first. Access to the pick up is then possible allowing you to service it. If there is sludge down there then the...

How tight on a full lock??

Sounds like you need to get his car on some soft ground and get the wheels to slip to see if there is drive to the back axle.

Fuel Pump, filter, both? How do I tell?

The other thing to consider is if the fuel pickup gauze is clogged with sludge. There are posts on here discussing this problem. Basically muck accumulates in the bottom of the tank over the years and you end up with a tarry sludge. If this gets into the pickup then it can partly, or...

How tight on a full lock??

Two possible reasons why your mates car is light. Firstly, the VCU has failed and is not transferring drive. Second reason is the VCU and both half propshafts have been removed to render the vehical more fuel efficent, all be it, front wheel drive only. The latter being known as MONDO mode...

Willing volunteer to measure their TPS resistance?

Well, reluctant as I am to go and fiddle with my engine management system, I decided to consult RAVE. This was not exactly conclusive and according to the internal resistor network diagram of the TPS, which I should add doesn't indicate any variable resistors, it suggests that the end to end...
