    Blocked SU's ?

No problem. They do say that 95% of SU problems are electrical:D Here is a link to a download that anyone running SUs should have http://www.v8register.net/FilesV8WN/SUbookletsAUC9939AHIFtuningandservicing.pdf Also, the Burlen Fuel Services site has some good stuff. Picking up from the...

    Blocked SU's ?

No answers yet........so I'll kick things off. Firstly, can you clarify your post 'cos I'm a bit thick:doh: It's not clear to me from your post if the engine did work, you then cleaned the carbs and now it won't work or, the engine wouldn't start, you narrowed down the problem to the carbs...

Clutch not working – Any ideas?

To me, the analysis presented by others that you have air/water in the system sounds right. It doesnt sound lik a broken fork to me. Fett is correct that for the cost, changing out the master and slave is worth doing but first off it is even cheaper to flush out the old fluid with new. This...

will this oil be ok in my 72?

20/50:doh: BTW there are two Comma 20/W50 oils, Classic and Sonic. The Sonic is better as it has a higher ZDDP (Zinc Dithiophosphate) which is reckoned to be good for pushrod engines. It is usually cheaper anorl. However, it is not so much better that you need change your oil again for...

    another fookin ringer

What...put the Vin plate and number plates from a 72 onto an 85 car and save all the hard work of a body swap! I can't believe someone would do such a thing. That would be a..................................................RINGER:D

    another fookin ringer

Bit harsh calling it a ringer m8:D Actually if it has the original Chassis, axles and gearbox, it would make the 8 points required to retain the original identity. All perfectly legal. Unlike a monocoque, the body has nothing to do with the identity which rests exclusively with the chassis...

Sticky thermostat? Temporarily remove and see if problem persists. Cheers Chris

    Radiator

Can't see why you need a new rad, the aircon rad sits in front of the existing engine rad but for the record, I'm pretty certain they are the same core but with a wider frame. (although that could just be the difference between a genuine and aftermarket replacement). Cheers Chris

    My new toy

Got something you want to tell me?:D Seriously though, John, nice one. Gotta love that oil pressure. Cheers Chris

    Can you help...

Yes, that should be ok, although from memory, it should go to a stub pipe on the radiator. The key point is that the pipe from the top of the manifold is the highest point on the engine so when liquid is flowing from there, after a few runs, it means that any airlocks should be gone...

    Please Help Me!!

If the car was originally EFi, I wonder if the fuel pump was changed to a low pressure version when the swap to carb was made. Might be worth checking the fuel pressure at the carb. Anything over about 5 psi is too much. Cheers Chris

    mystery v8 and antifreeze

You certainly have:D I have not heard/read Claw's disputed design story before, maybe that's why Ford bought LR.....to get their engine back. I'm not having the BMW theory though, where does that come from? On second thoughts, maybe the 'M' stamped on your engine stands for Messerschmitt:D...

    mystery v8 and antifreeze

Well, as Mandy Rice-Davies once said, "They would say that wouldn't they":D My experience of RPI is that everything they sell is the best thing since sliced bread and everything they don't sell is sh1t. (in their opinion). Did they suggest that yu will need their A/R amp by any chance? At...

    mystery v8 and antifreeze

Long day on SAABs, now waiting for the bath to run:D The beast is going ok but got a bad water leak. I think the rad is fooked. Got some really sexy cranked trailing arms (adrenelin 4x4) the other day and a polybush set so gotta get the Disco off the drive asap so that I can get working on...

    mystery v8 and antifreeze

Hmmm, I note the smile but just 'cos someone stuck a Landrover sticker on it............... In reality, Land Rover didn't make the V8 in the '70s, they were a customer of the BL engine plant. LR took over responsibility for the engine in the mid 80s. My original '77 engine just says Rover on...

    help needed lpg

Short answer....yes you can. Longer answer......Are you jumping to conclusions? 8 mpg is rubbish but what do you get on petrol? Is there a big difference? There is nothing wrong with a correctly adjusted 'open loop' system (manual power valve as you describe) and doubt if changing to closed...

    Trailing arms

Depends whether it is a lift to the body or the suspension:D Assuming suspension, the standard trailing arm will be now putting stress on the bush where it attaches to the chassis because it is now at a different angle to standard. Cranked trailing arms neutralise this angle change so the...

    tappet oil ways?

Just read this post but you seem to have pretty much answered your own question. Despite what others have said: There should be no shims in an RV8 valve train. There is nothing wrong with replacing an individual lifter. New cam, new lifters. Old cam, replace lifters in original positions...
