Quite true, but if time is tight and budget allows for it I always go for something that is available off the shelf rather than waiting for the right item to appear and still have no gaurantee of getting it.:)

Where exactly in Africa? Toyota spares can be just as difficult to find in some area's. If you are going to the bother and expense of shipping the Series to Africa then get your money's worth out of the freight costs and consider getting those hard to get spare parts before you go.

If it's a mud plugger toy he's after then he can sell the lightweight to me for 100 quid and use the money saved from not having to buy the disc conversion kit to buy himself a Disco..........sorted.:)

when properly adjusted, Series vehicles brakes are adequate for the job they were designed for.IMHO Any particular reason why you would consider the disc option.:confused:

Have you tried the search facility?.It's not too difficult when compared to replacing the rear crank seal, but getting the starter dog nut off can be a challenge. Can be done with just removing the front grille.

There are still a large numbers of Series vehicles in daily use in Yemen and Oman, albeit with various non original mod's to keep them going, so surprised you can't find any in the local breakers. You don't actually say what the problem is with the current set-up but past experience in this...

ABS.......I'm sure what your feeling/hearing is the ABS operating to avoid locking the wheels up. Not sure it takes longer to stop, but certainly safer from a control of the vehicle point of view.

Axles or propshafts, doesn't really matter about the terminology, but as soon as you start fitting lift kit's you load up the UJ's.Freelander propshafts are splined to the VCU.............limited amount of movement and once you start deviating from the design limits you get more wear.The UJ does...

Lift kit raises the bodywork, not the axles.

Nothing wrong with modifying, trying to find link for wheel site where you can superimpose wheel types onto model to see how it looks before you buy. Couple of minutes.

Well options are limited, but some nice alloys and low profiles would give the impression of sitting lower and fill the wheel arch without having to modify the wheel arches.................agree the turbo-charged RR is the dogs b######ks.

have to ask why?, ground clearance for starters would be compromised, and not sure the lines of a Freelander lends itself to 'slammin':)
