not sure wot peeps mean by deep wading? I've got normal fuel cap (with lock) and been in water up to windscreen with no probs. unless you planning in getting stuck in a metre of water for a long time then you'll be fine ;) ( and if you do ur gonna have way bigger probs than some watery diesel...

can't help but think the lights themselves must be the prob? if you can't connect them up to the battery directly and get them to work then either: 1 battery is knackered, which I don't think is the case 2 earths aren't good - have you tried earthing them to a bolt that something else u know...

On my 90 (M reg manual windows), if I'm doing more than 40mph and I try to wind the window up it won't go all the way, and I've got a wind deflector on. not really a prob, just wait til you stop/hit a junction and do it ;)

can be tricky to trace some drips. try to clean as much as u can then splash some talc around and that might help identify the source

check the colour, if its the same colour as a lump of coal then it may well be ;)
