Freelander 1 P0734 4th gear out of range

Thanks. I'll have a look at Rave etc and see if I can identify which one it is. The fluid was changed when the recon box was fitted 30k ago.

Freelander 1 P0734 4th gear out of range

On top of the lumpy changes (suspect the valve block) I now have P0734 and it won't shift into 4th. Looking through various threads it could be related to the valve block. Any thoughts? Do I need to swap a whole block or just one solenoid?

    low volts at cigar lighter??

Corrosion on the connection to the cigar lighter, high resistance wire. Remove the lead from the rear and test that, if it's still low then splice into the other wire and tag that onto the cigar lighter

Td4 HP fuel pump leaking - Mot fail?

I would imagine a fuel leak would be an automatic failure, I have had this with a weeping fuel line joint in the past. An oil leak could be an advisory, perhaps it's a dodgy MOT or it could be that it started leaking after and also has an oil leak. I would make repairs then have it re-MOT'd

    Newbie

Afternoon all, Newbie with a 51 plate Freelander TD4 auto. Previously had a 00 TD4 manual so aware of most of the issues [that had many of them!].

    Installing an inverter

Grab yourself a 0 AWG amplifier fitting kit and use that. It will give you the required cable and fuse etc.

Buggered Freelander TD4, need advice please guys :-(

Get the kettle on, the pizzas in and invite a few friends round to help you and it's do-able. Also check the engine is warrantied as running and in good order before you buy one.

    Good independent LR mechanic

Hi, Looking for a decent independent in the Somerset area [Frome, Wells, Glastonbury etc] to undertake a gearbox oil change and replace the 2-4 brake solenoid on my 51 plate freelander TD4 auto. Any recommendations? I am currently trying to get hold of Nick Paxton but he's not answering so...

    Freelander 1 Lumpy gearbox [Auto]

Thanks, Had a little search on the solenoid issue and it sounds like my symptoms so will look further into that :) I might try and find a decent independent locally to do the oil change, not something I relish doing these days :( Also noticed Hippo mentions it's worth checking the contacts on...

    Freelander 1 Lumpy gearbox [Auto]

Morning all, Recently purchased a 51 plate freelander TD4 auto with 96k on the clock. The paperwork shows a recon gearbox fitted at 60k but the thing is surging when changing. Almost like it's clunking into gear and is quite pronounced when I'm plodding along. If I put my foot down the changes...

Freelander 1 2 cosmetic questions, one engine related.

Lemon and heat is the current favourite for getting the plastics back to black. I use a tyre gel bought in 5 litre cans, works wonders and stays that way for days. As for rattly doors, check the check straps on the rear doors. I had an odd rattle on the passenger side and the rear door is...

leisure batteries and split charge location -_-

As far as I know you cannot jump from a leisure battery as they don't have a high enough amp/hour rating so double check that before you base your install around that requirement. If it's purely for campsite equipment I would look at a single battery solution, the length of time the equipment...

Freelander 1 Which freelander to buy?

My advice would be to hit autotrader and find a couple of each variant to go and drive then pick from personal preference. Have a look at the common faults but try not to end up scaring yourself out of buying one [I nearly did]. I previously owned the 3 door 'convertible' manual TD4 and found...

    Epics new vehicle

Horses for courses and all that. If you only have a requirement for a mile muncher once or twice a year [holidays etc] then it makes sense to run electric year round and rent a car for the periods you need something bigger.

    Air impact wrench

I found the same and ended up with a battery one that is incredible! The air impact and 3/8 ratchet are in the naughty corner of the garage!

    Keyfob coding in Somerset

Anyone on the local[ish] area that can code a used fob to my 51 Freelander? Looking to buy a used fob off eBay to avoid the stealer charges and get it coded to my hippo :)

    Freelander 1 Freelander problems

I bought a £60 OBD reader as I didn't trust the £10 ones. It was awful, badly made, unreliable and in the end it went up in a puff of smoke! My advice don't bother.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Send the DVLA form in to get the previous owners and either contact them directly or start ringing LR dealers / Independents in their area to see if they have serviced it. Did this a few years ago with a BMW [shudder] and got most of the book stamped. Send it to the dealer with an SAE and they...

    Freelander 1 Aftermarket TPMS

I have looked at length at Steelmate systems but never got around to fitting one. They do simple interfaces to full colour displays using either in replacement valves or simple valve caps. Their parking sensor kits are top notch so I would be happy to put cash into their TPMS when I am ready :)
