Freelander 1 P0734 4th gear out of range

So after checking the solenoid values at the gearbox ECU I find the brake duty solenoid is out of range by a decent amount [supported by the lumpy changes but all shift solenoids are within range [just on the higher end]. After a few days of abandonment on the drive it's now decided to shift...

    landrovercity.com anyone used them?

Another company to add to the "never using" list based solely on their response.

Freelander 1 New owner, how to protect my investment?

I think the main thing to do is not to panic. You can read horror stories about all manner of vehicles and scare yourself off them, I did when I was looking at the TD4 auto and the ML270 auto :( Buy the best you can afford, check and maintain/service it regularly and it should be good for many...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Oddly the beeping was the first thing I researched as it was bloody annoying. No doubt also annoyed the neighbours when I started early and it was tweeting away.

    Freelander 1 Folding mirror adjustment

Yup. I will be whipping out the switch at the weekend and giving it a clean. Failing that it's replacement time :) The main thing I wanted to check was that there wasn't a super secret squirrel way of adjusting them :)

    Freelander 1 MOT time

Good news on the pass :) I guess it depends on the level of wear 'allowed' by each garage as to whether parts require replacement.

    td4 clutch master cylinder

Depends how loose it is. Could just let air in or fluid out. Give it a few solid presses on the pedal then check for visible leaks, obviously an air leak isn't so easy to see but will give you a spongy peddle.

    Freelander 1 Folding mirror adjustment

Good plan. I might have some kicking around and nothing lost :)

    Freelander 1 Folding mirror adjustment

Yep I assume it's not the motors. Tried giving them a push and it's a no go too. If it's not some trick to get the mirrors to move down I'll grab another switch at some point :) Better fix the gearbox first though LOL

    Freelander 1 Folding mirror adjustment

    Yep. That's the odd thing.

    Freelander 1 Folding mirror adjustment

Hi, Hopefully an easy one. I have RTFM but can't see it mentioned. The mirrors don't adjust down, all other directions are fine just the down. I select the mirror [left or right] using the switch then press down and nothing. Is there a common problem on these or do I need to do something...

    Spot the dog

Amazing how badly some people will treat animals. Good on you for taking him on and giving him the sort of life he deserves :)

What have you done to your Freelander today

Thanks. Mine is a permanent loss of 4th, won't even attempt to engage when using tiptronic and if I use 'D' then it's F4 and "P0734 4th gear out of range" time. I will let the gearbox guru have a looksie and see what he decides :)

    Engine seized 300tdi

Join a couple of Shogun/Pajero forums before you jump to that marque. My 98 Shogun wouldn't idle, needed a full exhaust, ABS was dead, heater matrix was leaking and the rocker cover gaskets were dead. I had to import an ICV from the states to avoid paying £200+ for one :| On the 3.0v6 you need...

    P38A Subwoofer 'popping'

Check the earths, grab a graphite core and wrap wrap this around the signal wire. Failing external interference it's time for a deeper look into the amp.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yesterday I probed the gearbox loom to see which [if any] solenoids were out of range. I hoped to see the one of the gear solenoids out of range to explain the lack of 4th but only the 2-4 brake duty was way out :( Ah well, off to the specialists [different one this time though!] it goes for...

Looks that way. Time to grab a Hawk and a solenoid pack then get spannering

Parked it up with an F4 code and no 4th gear :(

    Classic Stereo issue

As above, it will still have some moderate EQ 'tweaks' on it. Check the quality of the speakers, also check the wiring as most cars have a tweeter and mid range woofer feed some have inline filters. If you wind the treble right up does the tone/quality improve?

    What would you do??

I voted keep them all but I would narrow the losers to the 110 or the BM and out of those two it would be the BM that goes. If you have 3 cars and there is only two of you then the third naturally becomes the spare, it doesn't matter what it is :) The loss of the BM would recoup tax...
