    P38A Coolant woes

Sounds fine, pls level the coolant cool before replacing the cap. Two spring clips on the cowl top cover, but another two slidy ones to detach the lower cowl, raise it a few cm and then it will cone off its lower lugs and you can hang it over the fan. You will also need to detach the heart to do...

P38A P38 experts! Disabled engine 2001 Vogue. EKA doesn’t work. Key disconnected.

So Julien, what do you know about the PO? DId they replace the BECM at some point? If you have the right EKA the car should accept it via Nano. I have use the nano several times to re-enable my 4.6 (mainly experimenting with what difference the settings make) but the conclusion is that was...

    Millsie

Well, 30 mins may be over-doing it, but the point is to stop pressing buttons, open the door and leave the system to pressurise to be 100 pc sure before conclduign that stuff is broken/ needs fixing

    Millsie

Maybe you did, but leave a door open and the engine running for 30 mins, then see if it will lift.... Don't panic and expect it to lift straight away

    P38A Coolant woes

I vote rad, probably blocked... try and back flush it. Some of your symptoms also sound like you may not have fully bled the Air/ left the right gap in the coolant system. But fix the rad first. My 4 6 did exactly what you described when I got it. A post mortem on the rad revealed the...

P38A Sanity Check, are the Rover V8s any good??

Go into it expecting a full overhaul and you can only be pleasantly surprised. If it needed top hat liners it would have either been done or scrapped by now. I have 4.0 from 4 years old, fairly regularly serviced never missed a beat. My 4.6 I had for the last 4 years, and I needed to do HGs soon...

P38A Alpine Radio not accepting code

Yes, I have a regular kenwood stereo and then bought bought an adapter harness, with an extension for using the steering wheel controls too. I think I posted dets on rr.net at the time, but if you're interested I can poke around in my receipts folder

P38A Alpine Radio not accepting code

Maybe this is unwelcome advice, but fit an aftermarket stereo and never have to worry about all that BS ever again - and you can have an upgraded stereo with bluetooth for not v much money. there's enough to go wrong on these babies without being locked out of a 25 yo cassette player too

    P38A Sheared rear bumper bolts

The heads had gone and mine and I used a set of irwin bolt remover sockets and an impact wrench...or if you have access to a welder you cd tack a hex head onto the old bolt, or a die grinder to take the head off....

    P38A Compressor clutch

It's a v8, right? My compressor was also leaking from the same seal, but worse than yours - even then the ac went a year between recharges...but i eventually replaced the compressor to have a permanent fix. If you put a 9v battery across the clutch you can see if the clutch engages (and air...

    P38A Overheating now and again

First of all the air gap probably got screwed up when the temp spiked (unless you refilled after that). Dumping coolant can just be a function of that, it doesn't have to be a major problem.... Then you have the fan (newspaper/ water pump (is the coolant coming through the bleed hose to the...

P38A Turning off Immobilization etc. How?

Who mentioned a passive alarm? We don't have one. The passive immobiliser is what is turned off in nanocom when you set immobiliser to "disabled" - the point is only that the disable option does not disable the entire immobilisation system, it just stops the vehicle immobilising itself in...

P38A Turning off Immobilization etc. How?

It's been a while since i went and did all the testing/ analysis, but agreed - you cannot disable the EKA once the engine is disabled. On the other hand, even with EKA disabled you can still use the nano to enter the EKA code if you want (i didn't test the door lock/ unlock EKA method in that...
