P38 Starting when hot and cutting out issues?

    V8 Cold start cut out

Coolant temp sensor for the ECU would be the first thing to check/change I think? Can't remember off hand which one it is though.

    heater

The classic aircon unit inside the car has a separate fan to the main heater fan as it's a sort of bolt on extra. Does your heater fan work on full speed but no others? If so, it'll be the resistor bank. If it's not working on any speed, it may well be seized or jammed or just burnt out. Either...

Portable jump start battery, how much power is needed?

If your Halfords Caravan battery is a leisure type, they're not designed for starting vehicles. Vehicle batteries are designed for heavy discharge loads for a short time whereas leisure batteries are designed for a very light discharge for long periods of time. The diffwerence is in the plate...

    Engine immobilised!!!

There were three variants of the RF receiver. The 2001 model will have the Mk2 if it's the original. You'll need the Mk 3 - part nr YWY500170. Don't buy anything off Ebay. The part numbers aren't stamped or labelled on the receivers so there's no way of telling what you're getting.

    Slow Puncture?

I had a slow puncture on the Voyager we have. Lost about 7 or 8 PSI per week. Put off repairing it. Blew it up and set off for Scotland. 100 miles up the motorway, dead flat and totally knackered. Shafted for £140 for a new tyre - options none. Cheaper to get it fixed now.

    Mot

The gas analysers are linked to the computer but you're right, not every car needs an emissions test (pre 70-somethings I think and LPG). But they do input your car's details into the computer before starting the test so I would have thought it would have come up with the requirement for gas...

You did well to find them. Fortunately, I haven't had any wiring breaks on mine - yet!

    p38 window/mirror/central locking not working

    Whereabouts were the breaks?
  12. Derek Ward

    Mot

No gas analysis, no pass. Maybe you just didn't see them do it. Sometimes they'll stick the pipe in and carry on checking lights etc at the same time. As it's all done on a computer now, they can't skip the emmissions test.

LSE Fuel inertia shut off button?

The one that's reading the higher is the one that's u/s. Throw it away. You can get new ones now from a fiver upwards.

    P38 vague steering

Mine wanders a bit too, especially in lane 1 on the motorways with the ruts but on lumpy roads in the Highlands as well. Also fitted with Goodyear Wranglers. I'll be trying something else next time.

britpart fuel pump on 4.6 gems

Had one fitted on mine a while ago. The pump's been OK but the fuel gauge is very slow to rise when you fill up and never indicates full - always stops at 3/4. Funnily enough it seems to go down fast enough though..........

The delay relay (very mis-named) actually wakes up every few hours (doesn't actually say in Rave how many) and levels the suspension. Doesn't have anything to do with the BeCM waking up. It acts totally on it's own. It's basically just a timer. Yes No The suspension levelling out will not...

    stickin valve

I've used engine flushes for years but I've never heard of that one before. Makes sense though as it'll thin it out but still lubricate ok. I'll give it a go next service. Cheers Mike.

    doors not unlocking with remote

It has to be your fob. Without the LED showing when you press the button, you'll be getting little or no signal. It's possible it works when it's in the ignition as it's then inside the car and the RF (Radio Frequency) could be picked up in the wiring and re-radiated so that it's picked up by...
