01 Range Rover Overheating with No Heat?

You don't say whether it's petrol or diesel. Is your viscous fan operating normally? It sounds though if you're not getting any heat out of the heater, it's either air locked or you have a problem with the heater itself (any book symbol?). Feel the hoses going into the heater. Are they heating...

    How un(reliable) would a 2.5 DSE P38a be?

I wouldn't say the manual R380 box was more robust. I had an output shaft shear in mine just where a roll pin goes through. I was only pulling out of a junction too. Also, the gearchange was crap and the synchro weak on first and second. I'll go along with Data too on the no torque low down...

    L322 MOT Brake Test Question

In theory. if both rollers are spinning at EXACTLY the same speed but in opposite directions, the propshaft should not turn at all. (Just the same as having the car jacked up and in gear. Turn one wheel and the other will turn in the opposite direction). But it will depend on having them at the...

    P38 Harmon Kardon Speakers

If that's the correct price, it's pretty cheap. I doubt that you'll find an aftermarket one much cheaper. As a comparison, I used to have a Volvo C70 convertible. The same speaker went in that in both doors. Volvo wanted over £300 (three hundred pounds) per speaker.

    P38 Fuel pump

The intank fuel pump will only come on for a few seconds when you turn the ign on to prime the system. It doesn't keep running until the engine starts. How much fuel is in your tank? You can normally still start and run the diesel with a knackered intank pump but only if the fuel level is above...

    Ignition Ecu Programing

Yes, you would have to get it 'synched' to the BeCM. IrishRover does them amongst others.

    nexen tyres

So if you had a puncture that couldn't be fixed, they're expecting you to buy 4 new tyres? What a load of bollocks!

    Another Non Urgent question .......

Aye, I hear what your both saying and you're probably right Wamers to start a service cycle. Makes sense. My old bus has only done 74000 miles anyway. No idea whether the oil was changed at 60,000 or even 30,000 but it is clean and it's working OK. Next time home I think.

    Now she won't start?!?!

It also sounds like the starter is trying to pre-engage but the contacts are not making in the solenoid to spin the starter, hence the clunk as it's pulled in. Put some load on the battery such as lights etc and see if they dim when it clunks. If it does, your starter may be jammed or the engine...

    Another Non Urgent question .......

Yeh but....Ashcrofts also recommend now that, if you don't know the history of the box ie whether the oil and filter have been changed on a regular basis, it's probably better to leave well alone if it's working OK and the fluid is clean. That way nothing gets disturbed. There have been posts on...

    Fuel gauge temperamental...

The fuel gauge sender is a normal resistance type and feeds into the BeCM, It then converts this analogue signal to a digital one to drive the gauge itself. Can't for the life of me figure out how the MAF could affect this as that feeds into the ECU, not the BeCM. However, I'm sure much stranger...

    DSE exhaust... twin petrol mod???

No, the twin pipes mounted behind the valence and then the pipes pointed down so you don't really see them.

    P38 - air to coils?

Funny though that Jaguar have only recently started using air suspension when the likes of Mercedes have used it for years on the S class. They always said they could not better coils for the ride.

    DSE exhaust... twin petrol mod???

The V8 (later one anyway) is a 2 into 1 into 2 - 2 catalysts into 1 centre box into 2 back boxes. I seem to think the petrol and diesel are both the same. Weren't early petrols a single system all the way through the same as the diesel?

    Jacking under the diff.

Agreed, It's the one thing they're very, very good at - working the system. Our fault for giving the liberals too much say in the past.

    Jacking under the diff.

Their idea is to take over parts of the town bit by bit. They then get elected as councillors and eventually become a sizeable influence in policy making. Where do you think all the re-generation money gets spent? Nowhere that's non muslim that's for sure. As Wammers says, it's not about colour...

    P38 - air to coils?

I don't think changing to coils will stop it leaping all over the road. I think that's more a function of the tyres and/or steering play. Mines particularly bad on motorways in lane 1 due to the ruts from HGVs. It's on Goodyear Wranglers (255/60/18). I'll be trying something different next time...

    Jacking under the diff.

And that's exactly why I'm moving up to bonny Scotland (Blairmore near Dunoon). It's where God made the most awsome scenery and then showed he had a sense of humour by populating it with bloody midges! Still, they only usually come out in the evening so I can live with them. Blackburn didn't...

    Jacking under the diff.

Have to totally agree with Wammers on this one. There's not a problem provided you use the correct jack.
