    Springs

Right hand drive defenders list to the left while left hand drive defenders list to the right. it is normal. but if you hate that, you can change the passenger side spring to the same rating as the driver side. hence leveling out the vehicle. However, now you find water collecting in the gutters.

    Remove Roof-rack???

I believe you are worried because there's this metal piece on the side panel that looks like some form of reenforcement. It actually is there to reduce vibration and also hold the side panel so it doesn't dent in too easily. I've cut mine a long while back for the windows and it's doing fine...

    landrover 110 leak

try the rear window washer, it usually lets in water and it just flows down the rails inside the cab. or if the water is lower, it's where the side panels meet the tub, the rubber seal is usually worn or not properly seated. easy way to cure this, silicon round the entire area. hard way...

    Winter tyres

not really answering the question, but yes, you can do 265/75/16 on the alloy rims. i've 265/70/16 on mine. vehicle will be slightly lower as compared to the stock 235/85/16.

    Gearbox

prolly a recond box will make more sense. You should have a LT77 box on your 110. maybe try getting a R380 box as shifting is slightly easier on this one. but do check if they mate the X-fer box properly, which i think they do.

    Transmission gone

It should be the X-fer box then. Driving with the fella in diff lock on road will eventually result in damage to the prop shafts as they are stressed up more as they can't 'slip'. Maybe rebuilding the transfer box is the cheaper way to go. ash croft transmission has ready recondition boxes...

    clutch clunk

just be gentle, for me sudden backing off the gas at lower revs does yield the clonk at times. or repeated quick step-release-step (aka jack rabbit style) will do that too. but ya, driving properly and you'll be fine. I've a custom build air con in the rear which is pretty powerful and is at...

    clutch clunk

I have this clunk thingy once in a while. I just be a lil more gentle on the clutch or rev the engine a bit more before changing up. for me when this happens i just need to lock and unlock the centre differential while parking facing downwards and park brakes pulled. it kinda 'takes up the...

Buying and fitting rear sliding windows

i watched the guy at the workshop do mine, so it's basically how well you mark out the cut. just get it correct and then drop in the window. get it wrong and you screw up your side panel and not to mention it will leak!! or in the not so worst case, you get unaligned windows or crooked ones...

    So It Begins!!...god Help Me...

5 years or younger land rover?? you gotta be kidding. the sg dealership is so stuck up that they think i can't even afford one when i turned up in my t shirt, bermudas and sandals. not to mention i've a 3 yr old td5 d90 when i pull up into the lot, before which i had a 32 yr old SIII. these...

Buying and fitting rear sliding windows

Over in the sunny island of singapore, all defenders are registered as tow trucks or goods vehicles (van). so initially we all couldn't have any side windows at all. but then LTA (the vehicle governing body) changed the law recently so many have flocked to cut side windows and alpine roof in...

    defender shower

i've seen this on my friend's landy, a 30litre water bag which sits ontop of the sloping part of the roof, above the driver and passenger.

    Nearly new td5 110csw

honestly speaking, not because i own a td5, it's quite a good engine. Yes the head thingy is true to a certain extent, therefore if you operate your vehicle in relative cold climates, make sure you let the turbo and engine idle for a while like a minute before switching off, or simply install a...

    TD5 noise

that's the air filter spinning down. it's normal. it's spins abt 10000 rpm so when you cut the engine, you can hear it spin down. if you hold the gear shift you can also feel it.

    another bit of advice wanted

sand paper off the rust and paint it. if it's rusting from the inside out then it's going to be tricky to solve as you need to find the source of water leak first.

    Advice needed please!

it might be the transfer box. 1. park the car facing downwards 2. pull the hand brake 3. step on the clutch 4. engage the diff lock 5. if diff lock light doesn't engage, step on the foot brake, release the hand brake, roll the vehicle till it does. 6. neutral the diff lock now 7. pull the diff...

Doesn't sit level, leans to the left

if you own a right hand drive defender, they are supposed to list to the left. There are 'reasons' to this. 1. 10 yrs ago, the fuel tank was under the driver seat, so a full tank of fuel plus a 75 kg driver will logically level the vehicle. 2. sollihul assumed that you always travel without a...
