    clunking

these are never ending. so careful driving will reduce these clonks. ok, usually it's the rear that's pushing the vehicle when you back off the gas. i have this problem but without harsh acceleration and deceleration, it's smooth as silk.

    110 Swimming Pool

ok, seriously i've battled leaks on my defender 90 since day 1, brand new. for the door seals, if they still feel flexible enuff, you might want to poke a tiny hole(s) in them and inject silicon into them, hence puffing them up. do not close the doors till you're sure the silicon has dried...

    Tyres

32" tyres. that should be about max if you also need to consider not rubbing the radius arms or chassis. just adjust the steering stop and you'll be fine. so assuming yr rims will take the largest are 265/85/16. but you have steel rims of 15", hmm, maybe they might not be able to accomodate...

    Is Yo Landy overheating?

temp gauge grounding problem. try clean the connectors first. if that fails swap out the gauge and see.

    shockers

i believe longer shocks will allow for greater axel articulation and travel. i use the decarbon shocks on my d90. gas shocks react faster then the standard LR shocks, so that would yield a more 'plesant' ride.

    Rattling gearbox in neutral

Hi all, Seems like many of us are facing some problem with the gearbox. I've an interesting one too. I did an experiment today and placed the transfer box into neutral and then selecting gear 4 on the main level and releasing the clutch. to my horror, i get a terrible rattling sound. the...

    Problems Removing Front Middle Seat

Oh remember the push handle has a different door catch from the lift handle. 1. Not too difficult to fit a door, but it's best to remove the old door first. leave the hinges on the bulk head b pillar. 2. put the door in place, if you have the lift handle type in the old doors, remove the...

    Lift Options?

anything more than a 2" lift requires you to change a lot of parts, like radius arms, prop shafts and steering track rod (the one which connects to the large ball joint to the steering box), brake pipes.... as once lifted the angle and the length of these are pretty much off and by "stretching"...

    33x12.5/15 MTR's - useful at all?

you might have a lil problem with the eyebrows on the arches as well as the lock to lock turn. you need to check. jack up the vehicle and turn full lock and see if there's any rubbing. other than that, it's an amazing set of tyres. ok, but the simex centipedes are better in deep soft mud.

    Handbrake

oh no, see la , spoil already... nothing will happen if you don't do it a few more time.

    ETC and ABS

td5 defenders 2000 (more commonly on 02 above) and beyond do have the option of TC (2nd last lamp on the right of the dash) and ABS (last lamp on the right). you either have none (like mine) or ABS only or TC and ABS. open the hood, if you see 2 vacuum servos and a silver box next to it with...

Stiff clutch - smooth changes impossible

when i took ownership of my 02 defender td5, the eek sound was because of the clutch pump. so i applied the repair kit to it and it's fixed. no fuss no russ. try oiling the release spring on the pedal first. usually the lack of control of the clutch is due to the clutch pump. even if there are...

    Fuel filler cap lock change

hmm, but on a td5 it is already two different keys. small key for fuel and large key for ignition. what difference will it make?

    Them Gears

do a gear shift to all gears before moving off. works for me. usually happens on mine on a cold day. maybe it's just the gearbox oil not flowing.

    Which Defender to buy?

Tdi if you are much into doing things yourself, simple (but not so simple), easier to fix in africa and in the desert. Td5 if most of the time you don't make your LR swim. Better highway speeds and power everything. better pick up from stand still.
