yeah it would be loud, just turn in down yes all speakers and sub woofer would work like this. the only other way is to bypass the amp under the passenger seat, but you will loose the sub woofer this way.

wiring rear bumper lights to roof rack

electrically yes it's a simple job.. legally it's a big fat NO!!! with the lights high up they wouldn't meet the vehicle lighting regs, addition lights are fine but the only lights no.. i'm surprised the auto spark hasn't told you.

should be quite easy, make sure the radio your intending to fit has ISO plugs, and if possible an electric aerial feed output.. connect this aerial feed wire to the slate and green wire..which should power up the amp under the seat. check this first, to make sure it comes live with the L/Rover...

    Discovery 2 rear air suspension.

no problem, well ok i've got a pipe cutter. simple way get a small bit of wood, and a stanley type knife with a new blade, lay the pipe over the wood and cut off the brass nut off the pipe, making sure the cut is clean and at a right angle. then as said just pushes home..

    Hot Alternator!!

right it shouldn't run hot, warm maybe, well it's in the engine bay. first thing that came to my mind was an electrical overload, looks like the electrical system is drawing more than the alternator can supply. first thing to check is, is it the right amperage for the car? i would think that...
