What have you done to your Freelander today

Fitted MG F rear view mirror with lights in my 3 door, they come on when the doors are opened and the car is unlocked too. I also painted my drums, they were letting the car down with the scabby rust they were covered in.

    Freelander as a first car

Im a bit late here but thought i'd chime in. I bought my freelander in February this year. Its a 52 reg 3 door td4 manual. It spent a week in the workshop getting some stuff done. New diff and rear end parts. It was then in an fuel injection place for a few days. It had a misfire and all 4...

    What is this holder for

only the 3 doors have one, mine has one and i was told it was for a small CB radio or something like that, the hole at the bottom for the power and antenna leads to come through. Too small to fit anything else in, sunglasses wont fit.

    Upgraded discs with greenstuff pads

aren't they meant to disperse any gasses that can be trapped between the pad and disc too? New Zealand motorway patrol stuff is great. I remember once there was an angry cockerel on there for some reason and his face was blurred to protect his identity.

    Aftermarket Radio Question

I have an aftermarket kenwood unit in mine. Most of the modern ones have adapters so you can use the steering wheel controls. Mine work but i had to wait while halfrauds got one in for me. I got them to fit it too because i didn't want the hassle. As for the CD changer, they have mostly become...

    Freelander Faults poll

UPDATE New VCU, the smaller metal ring on the rear part of mine decided to come off and start spinning around on the propshaft. Solution, duct tape and limp it home until a replacement came in.

    Upgraded discs with greenstuff pads

so it is tried and tested :D how do you like it? i think mine were the dreaded britpart. the stock ones are also vented so i cant see the mud being that much more of a problem. that being said i cant go offroad anyway apart from the odd wet field.

    Upgraded discs with greenstuff pads

thanks for the replies. the discs needed replacing anyway so im happy even if they are just for looks :P i would offroad but there is nowhere around here where i can go. "studies show that most people that own a 4x4 dont take them offroad" thats because there is nowhere to go :/ aaannnywayy...

What to go for, high mileage??

im a bit late in here but my 3 door is great. i think it looks a bit sportier than the 5 door and mine is the top of the range one with everything including heated seats, leather, heated and power fold mirrors...it goes on the doors are enormous so it can be tricky in car parks i have to admit...

    Upgraded discs with greenstuff pads

This might be useful to someone So, just under 2000 miles ago i fitted some drilled and slotted brake discs to the front of my freelander coupled with some EBC greenstuff brake pads. The old discs worked well enough but did make me nervous a few times even though the pads that were on there...

    FL 1s...common as muck ?

i absolutely love mine. its a 3 door ES model with all the extras. its really well equipped for a 52 plate, has heated everything and is so easy to drive. its a td4 so the economy is good and with a ronbox economy, torque and power is excellent. i have some intercooler and intake modifications...

Anyone bought a Britpart rear silencer?

i bought a stainless one and it seems to be holding up fine so far, much better than the one that was on there. don't even know where the one that was on there came from, it had twin tail pipes, couldn't find another like this anywhere. The picture is my old unit when i replaced it...

    Blue smoke

what crank case vent is on the car? is it the TD4 engine, if so you can use the BMW breather unit, doesn't clog up and much more efficient than the original one. The reason i say this is because it allows the build up of pressure in the engine to escape safely and if it gets clogged the pressure...

Has it got to be the injectors?

i got my freelander and it had a misfire and the exact same symptoms. it would hunt at idle and would shake the whole car. felt like it was going blob, blob, blob. pretty annoying. it ran fine at higher revs but low down it was horrible, not to mention annoying. It annoyed me more than the roar...

    rumble in the jungle

Mine did this when i bought it too. It was fine under about 40 but as soon as i got over that it was deafening. ended up needing a new rear diff, shafts and hubs. It was all really notchy. I wouldn't drive it front wheel drive, it can feel really floaty under acceleration, but thats my opinion...

Bull bar and front fog lights

congratulations on getting a freelander, im sure you will love it. id suggest the best place to get a decent bull bar relatively good money is ebay. Generally all the big dealers put listings for them on there, at a decent price too. I have a tubular one to go on my 2002 freelander (as pictured...
