bBeed the system first. There are two vents, one on the rad and one on the stat housing. Have a read up on the header tank caps. I believe they can cause problems! I think the stat opens in two stages? Could be wrong! Buy a Genuine LR stat (cant be that expensive?) fingers crossed

for quickness, create a new earth for the element to the chassis to see if that sorts the problem first before you start ripping the rear door to pieces.

From what I can remember, dont shot me..........there are three wires (earth)all linked into one terminal behind the door card. Also the positive wire runs through the rear door and that can corrode. So, check condition of both wire going to the element first, then the earth

check the earth connected to the rear door first! mine had fallen off!

firstly check that the door is closing fully sitting flush with the rear body panel. Check rear glazing rubber and also the rear door seal. Apart from that, do you have a large fish tank in the boot?
