Seems amazing to me you'd be advised its ok to rebuild with a known cracked head??! I'd be amazed if the problem is anything else unfortunately ........ I hope I'm wrong..... A
+1 on careful fit of the seals - had to carefully 'reshape' one I mis-hit .....
The Zeus SS pistons I fitted several years ago are in tip top condition and were a work of art to look at (sad, me....?) and a doddle to fit with some care and time. Good luck whichever you do. Cheers, A
Doh.....just bought one today, not RTC tho.....
I'm sure your seller will step up without argument - hope so (don't forget it's presumed to be a fault for the first 6 months unless they can show otherwise...I guess you knew that). A
I thought it was just me! Crazy how often it happens (I think the Epsom Green is equivalent to an invisibility cloak too....) - glad you were on the ball, the brakes are usually pretty good, just as well! Cheers, A
That's encouraging, tvm. Of course the garage (ran out of time to do them myself) found the damper/drop arm bracket completely rusted in so that's ordered in - so seemed rude not to replace the damper with a Terrafirma that Dingo's were very keen to sell me. I'll end up with it looking like...
I'm sure there was a recent thread that veered/hijacked into this, but can't find it.
Anyhoo - approaching MOT and some play in at least one ball-joint so looking into the work to do that, and someone (on that thread I can't find...) mentioned its not much more just to replace. Certainly at...
False economy not to do it at the same time - good brand dual mass not too much, and definitely NOT solid flywheel as said - horrible, and will destroy transmission.... Good luck, A
TD5 is intended to have fully synth, but I routinely use a good semi synth and it's fine at 220000.... I'd guess fully mineral may have less durability, and a bit more internal resistance due to viscosity, and prob not so suited to really adverse conditions, but with regular changes don't see...
Why do so few companies understand this - OK a screw-up, but admit it, grab it by the neck and fix it, and the average customer probably holds you in at least as good, if not better, esteem than before. Good for Pirtek, and you sound very justifiably chuffed! Nice one! A
Darned shame they screwed up the job, but good for them sorting it..... Hope it's 100% now - always good to follow these odd fails to file away. My steering box is moving up the to do list, replaced bottom seal and swivel 4 years ago, but it is always 'damp', and the bore was pretty rough so...
Quite right......fan speed is the electrical connection on the slide mechanism itself, I think it copies the system used by Thomas Edison to switch on his light bulbs....
The bottom end of the same lever movement should engage the 'stopper' flap in the system to keep out smoke, smells, the reek...
As I understand the remote accesses lots more than that - fuel, door lock, climate, sat nav routes/history - which probably more useful...... and if you don't want to adjust your seats as you head out the door/down the drive then I guess its not compulsory....? ;-) cheers, A
Supply and demand I guess? There was a massive boost in production and sales over the last 2 years, now loads of newish ones out there, so the older ones (not yet true classics?) might take a dip for a while......?? Not in the market or taken any notice as mine is a 'keeper' no matter what...
Don't think 80/90 would ever be synthetic, bog standard mineral would 'achieve' that spec on its own! Do check your're referring to the right bits - you called the transfer box the R380, but that's the gearbox I believe...? Sounds like it will enjoy some tlc anyway, have fun! I think some...
