Your sister sounds a real star .....life is often far more enriched by those who are here far shorter time than we would wish. Can't wait for the update photos and links for the fundraiser! Oh, and hope the MOT gets booked... Cheers A

I guess you answered your own question - 4 bar with any dodgy seal is sure going to leak...! ;-). Not a difficult job - I bit the bullet and went for the full part...... Worth being squeaky clean around the pipes and seals when swapping otherwise bit of grit may start you all over again...

How do I work out what is what (new models)?

Is there any brand that doesn't use as much common structure as possible - or even shared across brands - GM, Peugeot, Citroen, Mazda, Ford.......? Matter of taste I think the new Disco is fab, but bound to be a bit too pretty for many? Cheers, A

    Theft prevention , clever co2 ?

    I guessed he meant H2O ...... It's all a bit formulaic for me...... A

    Opinions please

Very interesting and entertaining on-line 'think out loud' - thanks All! And probably would get my vote as the final decision too fwiw...... Cheers, A BTW Parptoot - could you post where you get the welding done (assuming it meets your demanding standards!) as I know I'm going to need some...

    High mileage TD5

220000 on mine and it runs very well (to my ear). New Turner head many moons ago, various wheel bearings, rad, intercooler (both stone damage), FPR, one rear half shaft, caliper overhauls with SS pistons 5yrs or so ago, new DM flywheel (and clutch etc while it was in pieces), steering rod/links...

    Acceptable dealership behaviour?

Intrigued why the CEO of BMW would be interested.......? Seriously tho......Customer Relations at JLR, and the Dealer Principal and Franchise Director of Marshalls seems a far more productive route to follow. I can see good reason (with a proper explanation to the customer) for several short...

    TD5 blowing top hoses *fixed*

Great to hear a result, and file away for future reference - and glad I was talking rubbish as usual.......:) A

    Footwell repair

Looks a very neat job to me...... I guess the quote was 300 per side...? If you look at miles gained per pound has to be worth it! Glad it worked out well after all the angst! Cheers, A

Tried to save time, going to cost a bomb

I'd give him the 'quiet' option of all your money back plus the cost of 2 new side panels - if not then Trading Standards and Small Claims court is his choice.... I would personally not let him or his 'recommended' window guy anywhere near it to sort it out, unless RAC/AA inspected before and...

Ahh, you're not a real biker til you've dropped it a couple of times - always ensuring you come out unscathed of course.....hope she's fine, bikes can be mended.... None of mine have shown any urge until now my 20yo thinks she might follow in her cousins footsteps who recently passed her A1 test...

    Footwell repair

With a workshop with some classics and appearance of knowing what they are doing, I'd guess the price reflects just that - they know what's needed and aren't ripping the a**e out of the price.... Be good to hear how it goes. A

TD5 Fuel Filter Head Connectors Order

Those male connectors don't look 100%..... The genuine head I put on came with new males in situ ( oo er missus!) so I guess they do lose the good seal? Your head is very smart I must say..... A

HD Drag link and track rod

Hmmmmm, sounds on the money. If it's not peeing down a bit of Saturday investigation I think..... Thanks, A

    DEFENDER TD5

Waste gate stuck would be high on my list - it hits over 1.4 bar and goes into limp mode..... Mine needs freeing off regularly these days, must try graphite instead of oil...? Good luck, A

HD Drag link and track rod

Well 2 advisories - apparently it has 'some body corrosion' and 'some structure corrosion' ......blow me down! Slightly more irritating the fitting of the bling new drag link, track rod and damper has entailed engineering in a steering boss rubbing on the cowl, and worse a major metallic...
