It's not as straight forward as just slapping the axles on,for example you lose some height on suspension,it may not work with standard springs and shackles,the front shocks foul on the steering track rod on full lock so need moving,the disc brakes need a servo to work efficiently,disco axles...

I spent months looking into this to find a way to do it but in the end I just pulled it in bits and got on with it. I made the rear spring seats the same height as the fronts so it sits nice and level,I don't really notice that its a bit lower and the benefits outweigh it anyway.

Go for it I say I made mine for the V8,it goes from each downpipe into one big pipe above the gearbox xmember then along and over the axle,across to the drivers side and then exits out the rear panel with a "little" back box :D

Wrong choice of brain cells more like :der: :D That drift was at least 4 foot deep all the way across the road,i wouldn't have even tried it with all the kit i've got and the winch.

Went out on some of the back roads today in the series as we only had a few inches of snow,got further and further up the hills and the wind was howling and blowing all the snow over the road,then i came across a 5 foot deep drift with a shogun stuck in it :eek: Tried digging it out but...

That was my plan but the biggest output i could get and keep the standard belt was 70 amp,could have got a 110amp from a disco V8 but it was twice as expensive and would have had to change all the pulleys and waterpump so i could fit the wider belt. :( Now i have the 70 amp alternator and two...

I had the same trouble with my series when i fitted the winch,even with the engine running it would drain the battery when winching. The alternator was just a standard lucas putting out about 20 amps which was way too small for what i needed. I invested n a bigger 70 amp alternator like this...

Can't you put it on the road to do the work underneath? I have the same problem and used to do all my repairs on my drive that's sloped until the series decided to fall off the stands! luckily i was out the way in time. Even if it means going in a muddy field that's level it's better than...
