    CD changer skips..

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm not getting any unexpected noises from it or through the speakers, all I have noticed is that it sometimes misses the first second of a song when I select the next track on a cd!

    CD changer skips..

Hi all, The 6-disc changer in my 1995 HSE jumps all the time unless the car is not moving, or the road is silky smooth (unusual in Kent ). It's worse when cold, seems better when it's warmed up/ been on a while. Any fix/ maintenance I can do? Or am I expecting too much from...

    Bumper Scratches

Very much a 'try at your own risk' type of thing... but I know of someone who improves this type of damage by passing a hot air gun over the scuff, after trimming off the raised parts with a razor blade. This also gives an instant back-to-black effect that doesn't fade in a couple of days! I'd...

    Rough idle after MAF clean

Was the car supplied by a Land Rover specialist? I only ask because if not, I'd say it's unlikely they'll have the right gear to interogate your ECM, unless they specialise/ advertise a diagnostics service. There must be someone on here in the area that is willing to read your fault codes and...

    Running a bit Rich!

I think the rule of thumb with these cars is to get it spot-on on petrol first, then service the LPG system (vapouriser rebuild, filter change etc), finally tuning the LPG system and fuelling with a laptop-based programme. I've been through this with mine and have not allowed it to run on gas...

    Running a bit Rich!

I think your car is GEMS (going by the pic of the MAF?) You may find the LPG has caused the car's ECM to alter it's fuel trims to that of rich running.. I believe this happens due to the LPG system needing servicing, supplying less gas due to semi-blocked LPG filters/ heavy ends and the ECM...

    Running a bit Rich!

That loose air pipe is not too much of a problem because it is before the air-mass meter, although it is technically unfiltered air. Re the rich running, do you have an LPG conversion? I would say, check for fault codes, if none found, clean the MAF meter, check operation of this and the...

How much is LPG in your area?

Which one's that Steve, the Shell just out of the High Street? I normally use the Sommerfield in East Peckham, but have been using just petrol for the last few weeks.. That one has probably gone over 70ppl now

    P38 7 seat conversion

Do you have to climb over the lower tailgate though? Do the rubber straps hold the weight?

    heater ridle

I'd imagine someone saw damp on the carpets and immediately disconnected the heater matrix fearing the O rings were leaking! It was probably just rain water though. Congrats on your free repair :)

    Voltage at MAF plug?

Too true... LR quoted £821!!

    Voltage at MAF plug?

Thanks for your advice, I've been looking at the Bosch-branded ones from ECP. Been quoted £122+ vat, any good?

    what a car

I have to agree.. it's pathetic really! My 1975 Mini is much more dependable than the (£50k?) Range Rover! Progress?

    Voltage at MAF plug?

Do they fail intermitently then? I just want to make sure I'm fixing the actual problem instead of just throwing (more) new parts at it. The wiring is so thin on these.. and quite brittle when it's exposed to heat

    what a car

Oh dear, sounds like a very bad experience with that one  ! Mine was good really, had very little other than servicing to get it to 150k.. (the point at which I sold it). Sunroof was always a bugger though!

    what a car

I think your RRC will be ok Mike... much less sillyness to play up while you've left it! Talking of old Porsches, I used to have a 944S which sometimes drained it's battery.. removal of the 4 previously fitted/bodged/disconnected/knackered immobilisers cured the problem!

    Voltage at MAF plug?

Hi all, I'm having trouble with high CO levels. Had the car (1995 P38, 4.6 HSE) on the scanner and I'm getting very irratic readings from the MAF sensor. Sometimes it's correct. Testbook shows 21ish kg at idle, which increases to 70ish at 3000 rpm. However, sometimes the reading just goes...

    what a car

It is a pleasant surprise when they actually work as they should do! I can leave mine two weeks and it starts instantly too, there must be no-one near me with a cordless weather station or doorbell!

Weling a P38, what to disconnect???

Battery of course, other than that, everything important 'should' be sheilded from the effects of Mig.. but I would definately be removing or at least unplugging the sensitive BeCM.. it doesn't need any excuse to lose sync with the engine control unit!
