now that I have swapped out my knackered IRD I need to refit the drive shafts. However I believe the driver side drive shaft inner CV is worn (big crack in old IRD) Can I fit the front driver side driveshaft from a 1.8 k-series into my 2l L-series?

The IRD from the 1.8 is known to be good so I will put that in. The 1.8 was rolled by the PO and I originally bought it for its engine (that's another story) so now I have a use for the IRD. I will put the knackered IRD at the back of the garage as I suspect at some point I will need the pinion...

Started removing the IRD today. Removed the oil drain plug and no oil came out, but lots of metal filings on the plug. Hopefully get the whole IRD out Monday or Tuesday so I can split it and find out what has broken
