Freelander 1 track rod end-price-rip off?

To be fair if you use a main dealer costs are astronomical. If you don't agree with it learn how to do it yourself or refuse to have the work done and go else where. Only you can agree to have the work done, if you didn't agree to having the work done in the 1st place and they charged you for it...

    Defender Calipers- replace or rebuild?

Never done lr ones but in general yes it easy. I find bleeding afterwards the most tedious bit. Just give everything a good clean with brake cleaner and a toothbrush and make sure the seals seat properly and the bore is undamaged where the pistons go. If you can get a cheap set of calipers I'd...

    Defender Calipers- replace or rebuild?

Effectively if you rebuild them with all new pistons and seals you should have one that's as good as new provided the caliper casting itself is ok.

    In car tunes...

If you already have the headunit you want to use I'd do it in the order of front speakers, amp, sub then rear speakers. That way you are just building on what you have and if you want to stop at any time you've not really missed anything out, just not taken it to the next level. Also rear...

    In car tunes...

Get a four channel using RCA splitter leads hook up all the inputs, set the hp (speakers) to around 100hz and the low pass (sub) to 100hz too. You want a bridged rms output for the sub of a minimum of 100w, ideally a 4x60watts rms amp should do the job (provided it's bridgeable) I use one of...

    Alloys stuck!

Last time this happened to me I resorted to kicking the tyre hard repeatedly! Not really recommended but the wheels that I was taking of were heading for the eternal depths of the shed (then got stolen anyway)

    Mot changes

I'm sure I took an airbag out of a car once that had a replacement date on it. Safe to say it was well out if date but went back in anyway.

    Mot changes

And what constitutes 'illegal engine chipping' when you can legitimately buy chips for most cars? Surely it'd only be illegal if it cause the car to fail emissions tests etc...?

    Mot changes

So will all modified cars, custom engine swaps, etc fail then? So slap a v8 with huge carbs thats a pre cat engine and it should pass? Seems sensible....

Rocker arm movement during valve adjustment

Sounds like you are worrying about nothing if I am reading it right, because by doing the valve clearances you are checking the gap, which would mean there would be a small bit of movement in the rocker arm when the valve is fully closed. As long as it's not side to side it should be fine

I thought the law was if you'd used over 2500 litres a year you had to declare it or something? This hmrc/wvo stuff confuses the hell outta me

    alternative to welding

Agreed... Like I said I dunno if I'd trust it but it has been used in the past and no doubt will be used again and seems to be getting more common

    alternative to welding

On a resto programme on sky it was used on an mgb for the rear quarter panels and I've heard of it being used to replace the front chassis legs of a mk3 fiesta rs turbo on fiestaturbo.com by a bodyshop during a restoration (neither of those were glued from the factory!). that's the only reason I...

    alternative to welding

On another note body shops and restorers are starting to use some sort of adhesive/bonding agent for panel work although how it'd cope or if its suitable I couldn't say, but it is said to be stronger than the metal itself (dunno if I'd trust it though...)

is it possible to add BASS to a standard system ?

Yeah I thought that's what you meant. I always set the LPF on both the head unit and amp to 80/100hz depending on the set up, never quite sure how accurate the filters are on the head unit outputs.

    alternative to welding

It's easy enough, I taught myself my welding mine isn't exactly Japanese fishscale beads but it's proven itself time and time again structurally. Just get a cheap 2nd hand mig, some time and scrap metal and you'll soon pick it up. Worst comes to the worst, you'll have the tools then pay a mate...
