    D3 vs L322 vs FL2-choices!

I'd love the p38- but I've read a lot of horrors about them too and wondering with age factored in am i asking for trouble? Or do i spend half on a decent p38, keep the rest aside as a contingency fund for repairs or a daily runner?

    D3 vs L322 vs FL2-choices!

Due to have a (small)windfall after saving my ass off and i'll have approx 10k to spend, and i keep looking at the above 3 choices. It would need to be the family bus, a daily commuter/ load lugger and capable of 1000 mile weekends when required. I don't mind preventative maintenance but i don't...

Go through the paint swatches and see if you can find a similar colour, or get it mixed up for you at any decent paint shop

    Amp& sub help def 90.

What are the models & specs of the amps you are running? Never been convinced with capacitors as an aid to power supply for ICE but like anything there'll always be people who are for and people who are against them. Have you tried the amps or sub in anyone else's cars?

    Poor earthing?
  8. M

    hard start

Poor compression such as hgf, faulty ignition or fuelling, being a land rover, battery voltage poor, leaving 12v straighteners plugged in over night etc

No charge! What to check first?

Test for voltage at the battery with the engine not running, then test again with it running. The first will prove the battery is dead (no charge) or if it's some electrical fault, and the second will prove if the alternator is working or not

    Stereo Wiring?

Grab a multimeter to test but I would imagine you have an illumination feed too (when lights are on) so the display can go into night mode (dim) with headlights on.

    Freelander options?

What's yer budget? Td4's still a sound bet if the vcu and ird are ok, and the doors are still on. All vehicles have issues to a certain extent anyway, at least with a freelander you'd know what to expect because it's all well documented on here.

    New to 4x4

With that budget anything will need a LOT of work. If its a disco or landy expect welding, lots of welding. If its a freelander expect transmission issues and head gasket problems because it will almost certainly be a k series at that price. Either way it'll probably be cheaper to save more and...

    Hi from Lincolnshire

Hi there and welcome. More info on model, engine type, year etc would be helpful. Also if you post a rough location you might be lucky enough to have someone nearby who might be willing to help. Cheers

MOT Fail, O/S & N/S steering locking device

You can buy them from virtually any car spares place, even halfrauds. Line the hole in the threaded bit up with a gap on the castellated nut, pop the split pin through and spread its legs. As long as the hole is clear should take you not long at all.

can you make turbo boost at lower rpm

You could fit a smaller turbo to get better response, but you'd lose power. You could minimise the distance between turbo and inlet. You could 'twin charge' it with a supercharger for low down boost and response. Or you could try a 'hybrid' turbo. All more hassle than its worth, make sure...

How would you fit a defender next to the steering column and wire up to the existing wires?

I wanna party!! well at least have a disco

Rust... Everywhere. I hope you enjoy welding :) Boot floors, sills, inner wings, chassis, just about everywhere. Condition is far more important than age/model. Parts are cheap and plentiful, best to buy the best condition one you can get for your money, rather than focus on a specific model
