    P38 purchase

So, given the advice and reading the threads on here i have decided to purchase a p38 (and decided to keep a backup car). I want a late (post 1999) diesel (consider petrol if it is mint ). I want air suspension, leather etc. Is there a buyers guide anywhere? How much should i be looking to pay...

£1700 to replace sills and boot floor?!?

Welding is expensive if you can't do it, buy a cheapish mig and practice, it'll pay for itself several times over and you'll be surprised the amount of people asking 'can you just weld this up for me for a few quid?'

    'gas, gas, gas'

Its a great world. The only criteria is a great appreciation of alcohol and motor vehicles. I seem to work better on motors with a hangover and plan out the work better when ****ed. Hence why the sundays in my youth were spent fixing cars or installing stereos for other people. Paying for the...

    Waterless Coolent?

The gumf says that you can run the engine when at running with the coolant cap off. But my missus also told me she was on the pill nearly 8 years ago and now i have a 7 year old child- so i stopped believing anything I'm told :-)

To buy or not to buy...

I reckon a disco would be better suited. More suited to daily life and still has massive capabilities. You wouldn't want to do mid to long distance hauls regularly in a defender unless you can put up with its 'characteristics'. Plus a disco has more toys like you want, can still cut it in town...

    Waterless Coolent?

The idea is it doesnt boil and form vapour so therefore doesn't lose its ability to cool. But if your cooling system is kept in good order theres no reason for failure to occur anyway barring a fault which could potentially occur whether using uber expensive stuff or just good old coolant

    Waterless Coolent?

From what i can gather the normal failure of the l322 alternator is because of wear and age of electronics. So I'm not convinced that the coolant would provide any additional life span to the alt in this case

    Waterless Coolent?

In that case it can't do any harm- but is an expensive way of preservation. I'd probably just having the coolant changed more regularly. But I'm a tight arse.

    Waterless Coolent?

Interesting how it makes the engine run 3-10° hotter than standard coolants. Seems a waste without making sure the rest of the coolant system is as new otherwise the old weaknesses could still be present
