    I'm not trying to get in to a war here, i accept i could be wrong. From what i could gather intercooler reduces the temperature inside the cylinder and probably does some other stuff too :D

A quick phone call to the insurance company revealed that i can fit a 300tdi, but it must go and get inspected at a place called DREAL quite close to where i live. If it passes inspection, that means it can get registered as a 300tdi, and can then be insured...

    I've done a fair load of research as to why the 19j engines failed, most of them were never fitted with intercoolers. I will be fitting one to this engine to try and avoid any mishaps, because i believe with an intercooler fitted it will be alright.

    That's just how stupid the french are! i can swap the engine, that's all very well. But in the event of a crash, the insurance could well say that the engine was the cause of the crash, and therefore i would not be covered.     No, it cannot be re-registered because from my understanding french authorities will check every inch of the vehicle to make sure it is a standard 90. If my engine fails catastrophically, i can get a replacement 2nd hand banger for not too much.

    I could do that, unfortunately I would be changing the engine number, so in the event of a crash I can be blamed because they could argue that the car should not have been on the road. A 12j belonged in this car from factory, modifying it would be legal. Not to mention the cheapest 19j over here...

    If i blank off the pipe i won't get any boost, for it is that type that forces more fuel in to the cylinder, so i will need to get a new injector pump. Don't suppose anyone has got one of those lying around? :D :D :D

    Well, if i can get the 300tdi manifold to fit i'll have a manifold and turbo for bugger all. I was looking at buying manifolds online, but with any luck i can get the 300tdi to fit.

    I have managed to source a couple of TD injectors 2nd hand, f$%k buying a new one!!! Another question: could i use a discovery 300tdi exhaust manifold and turbo? it looks like it will bolt straight on, then i can send the turbo pressure to the intercooler then straight back in to the 2.5n/a...
