When i put in an order for my series 3 engine i for no britpart at all, except for the intake pipe.

I was considering not doing everything, but the engine has seen a fair few miles and i think they might be due.

But i'm assuming i can still pop the pistons out to replace the shells?

I was only going to get con rod bushes in case there was slop in the piston, they were only cheap :P So if the bores are good, use the old rings?

I've briefly set up a paddocks order: big end shells , con rod bush x4 , piston rings , crankshaft bush, crankshaft rear oil seal + gasket, crank front oil seal, timing belt and tensioner, heater plugs, fuel lift pump, head gasket set, bottom end gasket set, front cover plate oil seal, main...

But how did you establish which head gasket to order? I would reuse mine if that was the case except i've got oil ****ing out of mine :D

Some of you may be aware of the upcoming conversion (jamesmartin, Al203 :D) The 300tdi from the donor vehicle is not at all knackerd yet, but has done 180,000 miles and i just thought i'd like to hear what you suggest i replace before i start using it in the 90? I know the cam belt is due, so...

Okay, do you know whether fitting an lt77 to a disco transfer box is a pain or is it fairly easy to do?

The lt77 will be up to the job though won't it? Seeing as it was fitted to some 200tdi engines?

Question unrelated to the exhaust, about the gearbox. I plan to slightly tune the old 300tdi to get more juice out of it. Thing is, it would be adviseable to change the gearbox and transfer with it. Im prepared to do the transfer box, but i don't want to have to replace the tunneling and stuff...
