    Classic 3.5 EFI Running Poorly

The car had always run fine. This problem only occurred when there was a fault with the original dizzy and continued when the new dizzy was fitted. The car ran fine with the loan dizzy fitted apart from often hunting with low revs when restarting when hot.

    Classic 3.5 EFI Running Poorly

Ratae, Thanks for the detailed response, here are the answers: 1988. 203K. Automatic. All hoses appear good and connected. The non return valve on the vacuum hose has been removed because it was not working. I have owned it for 28 years and it has always achieved over 14 mpg around town with no...

    Classic 3.5 EFI Running Poorly

Thanks for all the responses. The original problem was extreme lack of power, it would not go over 50 mph and that was a struggle. Two garages identified the problem as the distributor. The second initially fitted a second hand one, which was possibly an original LR, so I could use the car...

    Classic 3.5 EFI Running Poorly

Hi I have a 3.5 EFI with Lucas L Injection and a Lucas 35 DLM8 Distributor (I believe the LR Part No. is ETC 5953) and have recently had to have the original distributor replaced. I was told that 35 DLM8's were no longer available and that a suitable after market one was fitted, However, since...

    Classic AFTER MARKET COOLING FANS

Thanks, is it possible to remove and refit the vc while the fan is still attached to the water pump?

    Classic AFTER MARKET COOLING FANS

I wondered that but those advertised as genuine Land Rover parts are exactly the same colour as my existing original fan whereas the after market ones are lighter. So I assumed that they were either produced by the original manufacturer or at least to the exact same spec.

    Classic AFTER MARKET COOLING FANS

It is the 11 vane plastic fan which the viscous drive bolts to. I did look for an OEM but could only find after market and genuine Land Rover fans. The after market fans are £12 while the genuine ones are £125 but both look identical except for being a slightly different colour.

    Classic AFTER MARKET COOLING FANS

Hi Has anyone who has fitted a BRITPART replacement cooling fan experienced any problems or just found them as good as the genuine part? Thanks

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

Thanks, just what I needed but I have just double checked anyway

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

I used a tightly rolled newspaper, the blade did shred a bit of the end of the paper before it stopped completely. A new fan has just been fitted (after market but appears identical to original) because one of the originals blades broke. The needle goes about 60% across the temperature gauge...

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

Thanks for all the responses and information. The fan stopped with the use of a newspaper but it took quite a bit of pressure so it looks as if the viscous drive might be on its way out and need replacing.

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

So it should be impossible to stop the fan regardless of how much pressure is exerted?

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

Thanks. It is a separate unit, with bolts through the rear of the fan. I was just wondering if it could be removed by just removing these bolts. If the viscous drive is working correctly should it be impossible to stop the fan with a newspaper or just require a great deal of pressure?

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

Thanks everyone for the information. With the engine hot should it be impossible to stop the fan with a newspaper or just require a great deal of pressure?

    Test Fan Viscous Coupling

Thanks for your responses, should I wait until the engine is hot before testing?
