Yeah, with the pedal down the gearbox isn't turning so it isnt that. Spigot bush makes more of a squealy whine and your vid sounds like grindey noise

Sounds like release bearing is done for. Noisy spigot bush is common on TD5 your noise sounds worse than they do

I'd say their diag isnt worth 70p. Seems to me its either incompetence or maybe they are trying to make a few quid on warranty work

I'm certainly no Einstein but the error code is something to do with hydraulic pressure. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say THERES NO PRESSURE COS THE ENGINE ISNT RUNNING but maybe their code reader doesnt tell them that ;)

I think the failing here is the dealer looking at it. I'd be willing to bet a competent garage would have a different diagnosis. My advice would be get it moved to your garage, a 200 quid tow bill would likely save you a load of grief and cash

Sounds like pushrod problem either wrong one in slave or MC one needs adjusting

A second click reveals another figure of 106 for the manual and 101 for the auto. Either way, OP either has a very optimistic speedo or he's looking at kms. TBH you'd probably need a wheelbarrow for your gonads if you felt comfortable going over 115 in a P38

Whilst I have no doubt we are feeding a troll here, as a previous owner of M51 engined vehicles I thought 115 sounded optimistic in a P38 so I hit google and it appears the claimed top speed for the diesel is 103

Maybe Shielder have improved of late, I know the rep wasn't very good for their chassis. If I was doing the job I'd have a good look at Maer, although not made in this country the prices seem very good and I haven't heard bad things

My RRC had the same engine fitted when I bought it, a bit noisy and a bit underpowered but was extremely good on fuel. From memory was 70hp or so but used to pull a loaded cattle box fine. Mine was dated at around 94 by the starter motor when it needed replacing

As above, water pump and timing belt kit then leave it alone really. Generally 200&300s are just as good at 200k as when they were new

There is no plunger or push down effect on the LT77. There is however a spring at the base of the gear lever which you push harder against to get reverse. Not sure how good access is on a defender so you may need to remove the transmission tunnel to get to it
