    REKT's TrayBack Project

    Looking very smart indeed

    HELP PLEASE.....

I only ask about the brakes because when the hub bearing gets really bad, the disc moves around so much, it pushes the pads and caliper pistons in so next time your press the brake pedal, you get a lot of travel before anything happens.

    HELP PLEASE.....

The bit about it fixing itself is a bit odd.. It does sound like a hub bearing giving up, but have you had a look underneath yet? It's not unknown for the axle casing brackets to rot to the extent that it doesn't, umm, stay where it should do, although the rear suffers more. Does the brake...

Disco 1 Help needed on my 300tdi headlights

First thing I did with mine when the head lamps played up, was to disconnect the dim-dip relay. It instantly sorted them out and stopped a relay in the passenger footwell going mental. Not needed for the MoT thankfully and I drive with dipped beam on most of the time anyway, especially at this...

Disco 1 Yet another drivetrain noise..

I did a full oil change on both boxes and both diffs a month or so back. The oil from the gearbox and transfer were both very... grey and shiny :( with plenty of hedgehog affect on the drain plugs. If anything, I think the fresh oils have made it all noisier o_O

Disco 1 Yet another drivetrain noise..

I was hoping that would be it.. but sadly not! It does sound just like that though.

Disco 1 Yet another drivetrain noise..

Can anyone advise on the noise my 1995 Discovery makes? It has a manual R380, LT230 transfer and has done 98k. You may need to sit down for this :D At low speed, I get a hissing/ scratching noise coming from somewhere, only when in gear. I can best describe it as the noise you get from a...

    Discovery 300TDI (big) rebuild

Very nice. We have 'lots' of Discoverys remaining over here, I think they must have built more than any other Land Rover. Sadly, ours are all as bad/ worse for rust as yours was!! Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Should last for years if you get some rust-proofing wax in there.

    D1 300tdi My first landy

That's a really nice fix. Both my D1's are sans sunroof.. which means they're more or less 'poverty spec' but that's ok with me :D

    D1 300tdi My first landy

This is the wiring grommet that lets water into the footwell- (in my case anyway..) This is after I removed it, cleaned and painted everything and refitted it with Tiger Seal. It's a fiddly job with everything in place. The water shouldn't actually get there, but it does due to the crappy...

Proper repair :D Mercifully, neither of mine have sunroofs..

    D1 300tdi My first landy

Sounds like a plan. I reckon if these things were painted properly, they would have lasted much better. Have fun!

    D1 300tdi My first landy

Wow.. that is a fair old project for sure.. All doable of course but there's a lot of money's worth of panel replacement there! I have a '94 D1 too and can honestly say they make the best all-rounders money can buy. Interior out first is a good idea. You'll find holes in the floors too but it's...

    Defender 200TDI into 19J

Check out a post I made a few days back on this thread- https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/200tdi-conversion-pics-of-some-fiddly-bits.307637/#post-3860426 It covers the oil cooler details. You'll need a frame for the Tdi rad and intercooler. If you can find a gen Defender one (did you get...

    Discovery 1 300tdi for sale

It looks very smart for Discovery 1. I'd say the price is spot on, with the years MoT.

200tdi conversion - pics of some fiddly bits

Good pics. Those rusty bolts that fix the turbo to the manifold caused me real grief too, especially that inaccessible one you mention. I've refitted mine with plain nuts and spring washers, tightened up just enough.. If you 'clock' the turbo, it's handy to shorten the small metal vacuum pipe...

    Nasty vibration tdci 110

You can, yes. Lock the centre diff and take a gentle drive.

    Nasty vibration tdci 110

I can imagine! Grab the prop, twist it, shake it, lift it etc. Watch the UJ/ rubber joint for movement. The UJ should be greased regularly, a fooked one will be dry and rust stained.

    Nasty vibration tdci 110

Double check the propshaft UJs, you don't want one of those breaking at speed.
