    misted screen

Also check the pollen filter if it has one? Other cars I have had used to do this til I changed the mucky filter. Reminds me- I gotta do mine soon.

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

My thoughts too.. Now, I can kind of understand fitting coils to a Series 3 and even the transfer, box and TDi engine, but why would you fit the dashboard and whole body, bulkhead, screen etc? IMO it's a dead ringer and that's it.

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

Saw this: HYBRID LAND ROVER SERIES 3 | eBay While firstly wondering exactly which bits are actually off a Series 3, I began wondering if anyone might recognise it.... The seller might be innocent but I can't see myself how this could possibly be registered legally as an S3. :( Thoughts?

    Winter tyres

And compulsory post-test motorway lessons- the most important being STICK TO THE LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING!!! That really, really ****es me off...

    My Freelander TD4

Or a silver line around the rim edge. But then, the silver wheel weights add the bling!! ;)

What have you done to your Freelander today

Nothing. Weather's ****e.... Need to take belts off again and check which pulley is making the shrieking noise again. I suspect the cheapo AC pulley has gone again. I chose a cheapy for that (and Gates for the rest) as it was easiest to replace and most exposed to water and crud, but I would...

    Winter tyres

Very true. One thought that sprung to my mind back in 2010 I think it was, when we were running out of salt stocks, due to usual local council mismanagement- why not just use seawater? We have plenty of it lying around our coasts and it doesn't freeze at our normal winter temps. I guess most...

    Winter tyres

All this road salt can't be good for the environment either. It comes to something when you see coastal plants such as samphires growing on motorway central reservations.

17 year old Insurance for a freelander 1

Forget fully comp then. Personally, I never bothered with fully comp until I could afford a car where the insurance premium warranted it. A sub £2k car is not really worth claiming on anyway when you consider the post claim loading along with the value of the car. Especially at the age of our...

    confused about oil

This is true, however, it is well documented that their diesel V6s (in Audi A4s etc) go tits up with cam wear on the extended services 'as recommended by VW' even using the correct VW spec oil, whereas owners who had done shorter servicing didn't. Personally, I use VW507 and still change it...

    dif bush

No, but they are easy to obtain and there's even polybush versions out there, but generally it's assumed a shagged VCU causes the problem.

    gaylander mudplugging

True, as my next tyres will be Cooper AT3s.. ;) Well, I had them fitted to my Deli and it went from noisy and shoddy grip to quiet and great grip in snow, winter roads, summer roads, rain and a couple of muddy tracks. Never took it mud plugging, but i have seen pics of it on Salisbury Plain...

    3 inch spring lift

So... if an LSD is available, is there anywhere that can make the rear diff to the correct ratio to give 50:50 front:rear drive ratio instead of this stupid fwd bias we have that shags everything up?

Erm, you drive a mile and a half to work and back..? Has sir considered walking to prevent killing the poor Freelander...? ;)

    gaylander mudplugging

The new Grabbers are MUCH improved. I went from full tread AT2 as above to the new Grabber AT (AT3 as I call them) and big improvement all round.

    Halfords f/synth. £10.

If that's the stuff in the silver bottles, I used that for 100k miles in my Mk1 MX5 at 6k intervals. When I had to strip part of the engine to do the belts and have a general poke around, I found the engine was absolutely spotless inside. It's good oil IMO. I passed the car on to a mate's mum at...

    MPG & Injectors TD4

A lot is dependent on the right foot too.. If I do 70mph I get 38mpg average, so I normally stick to 65. I don't fly up to that speed either, although it certainly shifts when I want it too...
