What have you done to your Freelander today

I suppose with all these crumple zones and safety designs, having the engine and other major parts put where you want them for easy servicing is not possible. And don;t mention all the electronic and emissions crap that has to be fitted in there somewhere... Oh, and there are Alfas such as...

    My First freelander project. (pictures)

They are of course referring to nuts designed for steel wheels, not just nuts made from steel. All the nuts are made from steel, but ones for alloys are generally a different design shape than ones for steels AFAIK.

Hmmm... 159? Last year or the year before I heard that Alfa topped VW on reliability scores. Now I know VW sell a heck of a lot more, so numerically more chance of failure, but they got on the quality thing before the 159 was launched by poaching the chap from BMW in charge of M division and his...

    td4 missing and blue smoke!

Had exactly the same on a Pajero and it was the filter so worth a check.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Been through as much floods as possible with my GKN and no probs at all... I know they are dear, and the prices have rocketed up in the last couple of years, but I really think the others are a false economy. I'd rather pay more and only fit once.

    Which bulbs?

I've used them and Phillips Extreme Vision and IMO the Phillips are best. All my cars have them now.

    td4 aux belt spanner size

I gotta take mine off some time soon, so I can access the rear bolt of the tensioner so I can replace it. The undertray, bottom water pipe, AC pump and alternator have to come off first. The belt is the easy bit in comparison!! Not a technically difficult job, just a PITA. Especially in the wind...

Out of interest, which bearings did you use before?

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

So how can this be reported to the DVLA or whoever?? It seems highly likely that this 90 was once someone's pride and joy. If it was a legitimately owned 90 then surely it would have been 'rung' on to a tax free ID. As it is not a tax free I can only assume it was a cheap knackered S3's ID that...

In my experiences, silicon oil does feel quite different to mineral oil. What does yours feel like Mr Clampett?

Taking someone from DVLA would be nice....

Gotta be a ringer? Anyone on here know it before or after?

I doubt it in this case as the bulkhead, screen and dash are pure Defender/90. There's nothing Series in this vehicle that I can see.... I do remember the days when the 90/110 front end kits were readily available for Series motors to update them, but this ain't one of them IMO... ;)

    Winter tyres

Well, we grew up doing doughnuts and slides in the car parks in old Cortinas when it was icy or snowy. The council stopped all this when they fitted speed bumps everywhere in their car parks. It taught us how to control RWD and slides in the slippery conditions. It's just no fun anymore...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had a look and the AC tensioner is fine and so is the Ac itself. Used the stethoscope to confirm all is fine except the tensioner on the main belt so that has to go. Trouble is, it means taking off the AC pump and the alternator to gain access... so that can wait...

    Genral grabber at?

What if you own a Landy AND a Jeep...? ;) I had Grabber ATs on a previous motor and great in the snow and never had problems in the lanes, though no serious mud plugging tried, so can't comment on that. Great on road too.
