    freelander vs discovery

Has your P38 been remapped or standard? I heard they're pretty gutless in standard form and a remap makes a real difference- a bit like my TD4... Yes, the Synergy fits the later Hippos no probs. I seem to think the CC kit is different on different years??? Might be wrong. Did look into it but...

DD and I are going to have a stab at a Toyota engine Hippo. Any inupt would be cool.

Now the MR2 can easily be fitted with the V6, so in turn can the Freelander be fitted with the Toyota V6 (Camry etc) be fitted using the same tecnique as the 4pot Toyota lump? Different thought- if the L series diesel is an update of the Perkins Prima- could it fit a Series 3 using the Prima...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Tightened up the nut for the wiper arm today and that cured that... My mpg increased by fitting the stat so yes, I think it does make a difference. Biggest difference was 4 reconned and balanced injectors, but you know that. I'm getting 40mpg with winter fuel and cold weather.

    My First freelander project. (pictures)

Try and fit a V6 from a Toyota. That should be fun.... ;)

    Tyre rotation

My mates is the 136bhp ish Sport model with speedo in front of steering wheel, not in the centre if that makes a difference. Yes, I agree, turbos go- but dead easy to swap on those, unlike the Freelander. I know- we did it a few months back. Apart from that- nothing at all wrong with it. Except...

    smoke/smell/brakes/handbrake/good garages in north wales

If the shoes/handbrake aren't adjusted, then the brakes will not feel very strong. If you really have to stamp on the pedal and still feels like nothing then check vac pipe as mentioned above or the whole servo. When my L series failed it was the servo- which was the last thing to replace after...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yaay!! Another convert.. Meanwhile, in all this stupid rain, the passenger side wiper stopped wiping. I can feel movement through the arm so I'm guessing the arm nut is loose. I'll sort it tomorrow morning as I didn't get home from work til 10 and it was dark and cold and raining and I'VE HAD...

    Tyre rotation

It's the X-Trail I'm on about.. My mate next door has one and it's a great road car for all weathers and not bad in mild off roading. One thing though- it's bloody reliable.. but... BORING! Anyway, the leccy clutch for the AWD is where the prop joins the back diff which only kicks in when the...

Eh? They have an electronic clutch for the AWD on the front of the rear diff... ;)

    Manual vs. Auto

My Jag had a ZF box and it was fine, but it was a 'sealed for life' unit which HAD to have a fluid change every 100k, or else... I wanted an auto but got a manual instead as it was a good deal. I decided that the auto was not much different economy on motorways, which is most of my driving- and...

    Shower Cover/Canopy

Old thread I know, but you can buy seam sealing tape for tents and tarps. This will sort it. Might have to get one of these for the summer, or a soft top set.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Well I finally bought some A4 stainless bolts to fit my engine undertray properly. I always thought it had been bashed up on the passenger side as it was higher that side, but last time I ventured underneath for a recce I noticed that the bolts were missing on the other sides front and it was...

    td4 missing and blue smoke!

Or better yet, get the BMW cyclone type filter which is a direct swap and no more worries about blocked filters. Loads of info on here about it.

    Brakes sticking

Mine have been doing it a lot after going through floods everywhere. I don't worry though.

    Freelander TD4 help

Ask in the Freelanderer section about the Ronbox/Synergy for tuning. Big improvement on drivability and increase economy when light footing it.

IN theory you could do either. In practice I renew all 4 and sell the 2 best ones of the old ones.

What have you done to your Freelander today

I agree that VWs are overrated on reliability. However, my 171k mile VW T5 van has only just given me it's first problem- a corroded (damp furred up) wire under the seat for the central locking computer causing the locking to stop working. Quick resolder and it will be done. It does have full VW...

Good to know... Did you have to remove the water pipe and undertray from underneath?
