Oil catch tanks on a 200Tdi - is it worth doing?

Yep I fitted one - works a treat and although I understand if you need one then your lump is very worn my 200tdi in every other way is A1 - so I am happy with this mod. Its the extra ZF resevoir.

    110 Rear vents?

You will find they were fitted 1987/8 - 1990/1. Not before and not after. Simples.

    110 Rear vents?

Fitted properly I have never known one leak from there. If you have a well sealed car - doors that fit etc see just how much faster the air flows through the heater vents with the widow opened an inch or so. Pretty dramatic - if your truck is not full of holes? I reckon it was a cost...

MPG on a TDi 300 Defender

I have quite a lot of gear on my 110 rack etc plus MT tyres. However I have also done a fair bit to improve mpg. On a 400 mile run last weekend I did over 31mpg - when the MTs finally expire I will be fitting AT's. Here she is at a very cold Wells by the Sea in Norfolk.......

Just how fast is a 200TDI?

Agree its not speed but fuel economy is much better IME. 25mpg V 30mpg in 110 form is the norm. Oh and the Tdi is tougher in use.

    Big end shells

Whats that in english? The OP was asking about the big ends - do you know which bit of the engine that is? For the OP yes it can be done although if the crank is worn changing the shells is pretty short term fix.

    engine run low on oil

You should not have knackered a Tdi with still a trace of oil on the stick. That would normally mean you still had 5l in the sump.

Are Defenders Warm? What Can I Buy?

My 110 albeit no ordinary 110 is whisper quiet for a Defender and as warm as toast. Why? Set up perfectly plus loads of modifications make it extremely comfortable for long and short distances. So a Defender can on your budget be fine.

Urgent valuation question - 57 reg 110 XS

Sounds like you have got buyers remorse before the thing even arrives. If I was the dealer I would keep your deposit and tell you to do one. Seriously Mattee you do sound like a complete girl on this - are you?

    Long distance in a defender

It all depends on the vehicle - how much are you prepared to pay. Most sub 5k Defenders I have seen recently would be risky for such regular high speed work. Maintenance is all well and good but old defenders often need major work where they are off the road. Get a small car for the...
