    You will be fine, even if you fitted a completely different engine as long as the rest of the vehicle is basically original spec then you'd still be over the points needed

    Personally I would avoid the "new style" as its a britpart one. Its possible its a decent make but its a bit of a lottery and I'd rather stick to the elring

    An inch or so of heatshrink on the ends helps prolong the life of the tube For replacing spill pipes yes, thats what it has been doing to you every day. You wouldn't want to try and fill a fuel filter by cranking it tho

    From what you've said, no. These engines usually start instantly, if its cranking for even a couple of seconds then its got an issue

    Short rubber pipes between the injectors, check them for cracks and splits, they dont last very long. A quick look at the pipes to and from the fuel filter/lift pump/injector pump would also be a good idea.

    200tdi start fine without glow plugs even down near freezing temps. At a guess it sounds like you may be getting air in your diesel, could be spill pipes

    300tdi would be the easiest, Td5 is a good choice if you dont mind doing electrics too

    No worse than any other 20-25 year old car, you may find a few that need a little work on sills or wheel arches but more common will be ali corrosion on the bottom of the lower tailgate and the bottom edge of the doors

    I doubt you will find a P38 on a galv chassis as they don't really rust. Well they do but they are probably the least rusty LR product out there. Maintainence will be very similar I'd expect although the p38 has more electronics, for either vehicle you'd want your own proper diag too. The TD5 is...
