    Your thoughts please

You're thinking of Top Gear 11x01 (yes I'm a nerd :P ) with that example.. but it's a better one! (I was referencing the test where they compare the Skoda Roomster, Toyota iQ and Alfa Mito, and Clarkson notes how you have to "mash your foot down just to do 20mph, you're better off with the...

    P38 Petrol vs Diesel

I never really found this to be a problem when I had mine, that said I do drive quite slowly but who cares? It's a Range Rover it's supposed to delightfully waft from place to place in luxury and comfort, which the diesel does just fine :) And yes it sounds a tad canal boaty on the way, but...

    P38 Petrol vs Diesel

Why doesn't this affect the petrols? The throttle travel is long for off road control so is presumably the same?

    Your thoughts please

Definitely true (demonstrated in Top Gear 13x03) but the 4.0 is pretty quick (based on my experiences with the 3.9), so how fast are people trying to move to necessitate having to thrash it?? The 4.6 presumably is better though as it was slightly re-thought for the P38 rather than just the...

    Your thoughts please

Ah thanks, but more power must come with more fuel if there wasn't a major fuelling redesign.... It's like the chipped diesel allegedly improving performance and economy theories :P

    Your thoughts please

How? :P It's essentially the same engine isn't it but with a bigger bore?

    P38 Petrol vs Diesel

Also check out this excellent thread on the matter :) http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f10/real-world-mpg-260428.html

    P38 Petrol vs Diesel

The diesel wins hands down on fuel economy and reliability, is (if chipped) about equal in performance to the 4.0 and not much behind the 4.6 (but will eat its gearbox over time (if chipped)), and loses on sound and the "I have a V8" factor.

    Overheating Diesel

Not bad for a substandard plastic impeller though :P

    Changing rear air spring

If you know what you're doing and have the right tools 30 minutes is easily long enough. I did 2 rear ones in my time (because I didn't do them both at once..... :P ); the 1st took ages because it was rusted in and I didn't know whether I was going to break something trying to move it.... but...

    What pump is it

Fair enough, what pressurises the breaks then?

    What pump is it

On the P38 if it's been stood for a bit you can hear the break pump going for a bit, or a lot if the accumulator is finished, so maybe that?

    Automatic Transmission

I think that if you put it in low range and press the manual button that you can force it into 3 or 4 to see if they can still select

    Burst Radiator.

And to make sure it has a baffle, try to run a marble through the top; you shouldn't be able to :)

    Electronic Cooling Fans (Condenser)

I must say I haven't checked them since I sold the car :P

    P38 Snorkel

Can't you have a rear facing snorkel for sand to reduce the amount of sand/dust going into the filter?

    Electronic Cooling Fans (Condenser)

I only saw, or rather heard, mine run during that very hot period last summer when going around town to the tip and back - about the same time as the AC dumped a whole load of water into the footwell :P

    Burst Radiator.

The diesel rad from Island4x4 is I think a Nissan unit - replacement is mostly easy (rust permitting) although removing the fan is rather awkward without the appropriate spanner!

    P38 Snorkel

He might want it for sand in fairness

    Juddering p38 :(

I thought a warning light came on the dash if injector had issues?
