L322 Faultmate owners please... LCM module

On the 5 series I had when I fitted the Cellis type rear lights deleting the lamp check did nothing apart from for the headlights when I put Xenons in. The rears I had to fit a later LCM which had the an extra option of rear light type. My E46 when I went to the LED tail lights there was no...

Thinking of a project Landie but which one?

22 years of working on crumbly British things for a living means that was bit of a necessity. :D Yeah I'm good with a welder. It will be next year before I buy something. So am I going to get a better series for the money then?

L322 Faultmate owners please... LCM module

You might need to fit the later LCM. It's certainly the case with all the Beemers

Thinking of a project Landie but which one?

Aside from the ongoing project that is P38 ownership, I am considering buying an old proper Landie as a project next year for me and the bratling. Now having been browsing on fleabay, it seems there are plenty potential Series knocking around but seem to be getting their prices bumped up by...

    Loosing coolant rapidly

The valley gasket is one big gasket that forms the inlet manifold gasket and covers the cam/tappets up. If that's leaking you should be able to see coolant coming down the bell housing. It may well be the radiator though as it's impossible to see all of that.

    Loosing coolant rapidly

Header tank cap faulty? Run it up to temp and see if it's coming out the overflow. Valley gaskets used to be common on them as well for mysterious water loss.

    Being brave

Needs to be an awful lot cleaner, especially between the centre two cylinders. I use a scotchpad lubricated with WD40 or similair for cleaning gasket surfaces. I don't like rust in bores either, if it's pitted the cylinder wall there will be oil consumption/smoking issues. Make sure the engine...

    L322 4.4 just turning over, won't start!

That will be why it won't start then. Don't know if the Hawkeye does it but it's a simialir situation to the BECM losing sync with the engine ecu. Is there any codes in the immobilisor ecu?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I don't think we are so much Butlers as Care Workers. Or possesions of the devil that is the P38.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thought about changing my prop UJs, then decided it was cold so ate Bacon and drank coffee instead. By the way, I', led to believe by posts elsewhere in this forum my Rangie should have come with a Butler. This seems to be missing. Have I been done?

    Major cock-up - help!

I'd also be composing a rather snotty email to the customer services department of the manufacturers of the product about the quality of their spraycans and who is going to pay for the damage.

    Major cock-up - help!

Most of the debris SHOULD be trapped int he intercooler rather than having got to the engine. The turbo is the worry, you need to get the air intake pipe off to it so you can see the vanes on the compressor side and carefully inspect them for damage. If they are damaged then turbo is ostensibly...

    L322 4.4 just turning over, won't start!

Agree with SaintV8. Fuel pump, fuel pump relay or rear fusebox. they have a habit of burning the vontacts out of the board where the fuel pump relay sits. Sometimes a wiggle of the relay will get them started again.
