    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Where I used to work we used to have an outdoor ramp and an apprentice. :) That worked well,

    Undersealing - a concensus ?

Rustproofing. Get under body steam cleaned properly. There are places that do this, ask at your local bus garage. Get underneath and remove/clean up any surface rust and apply a good rust convertor. Paint everything you can paint with either POR15 or if you can get your hands on it,Kephos 253...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

Have you done a cylinder leakage test and checked for bubbles in the cooling system whilst doing it? Have you defo got the right water pump? I Don't know about these but on Ford Zetecs there are different pumps for different belt setups, two different directions of pump. Is the steel pipe...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

It doesn't require any neglect, only time. Mineral leeching from the block deposits into the radiator core as a white virtually solid deposit which no amount of flushing will remove. It's exacerbated by using tap water. However I realise I've just put wear on my keyboard for no reason...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

I'm not going to argue. I've mentioned something I know to be a fact on the vast majority of cars I've dealt with over the years working in the job I worked in hoping it may help someone with a problem. Admittedly it was a clutching at straws suggestion but a suggestion none the less. I'm...

Question - not for the feint-hearted

That I will dispute based on years of experience. It was the biggest cause of overheating on Shadows as they tended to end up in the bin when the mounting studs rotted off the rad.

Question - not for the feint-hearted

If you remove the stat from the housing it will overheat as it's a bypass system. A bypass system with no stat won't push anything through the rad. all you can do is wedge it open inside.

Question - not for the feint-hearted

Is the fan cowling all there present and correct? If you have no cowling it will make it overheat. The other thing to remember that left static as the rad heats the heat will spread through the rad by conduction, the fan effect will reduce that.

Thinking of a project Landie but which one?

The idea is a full strip down and rebuild. I quite like the idea of these hybrid things on a rangie chassis, so presumably a Disco chassis would go under one of the variants? And don't even get me started on Rivets, I'm a member of the Shackleton Preservation Trust helping keep good old WR963...

    P38 LPG Conversion Isolation Problem

The two waterpipes are normally teed into the two hoses going to the heater on the bulkehead. The rubber LPG hose goes to the cooker ring thingymybob on the throttle body if it's single point. If it's multipoint it goes to the injector rails. Don't be tempted to reuse the old hose. Buy new, it's...

Help!! slipping gears / clutch on automatic??

In all honesty I think you are going to be putting a gearbox in it. If it's slipping that much it's dead. I would suspect the fluid is going to be dark brown/black and with an awful burnt smell.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well in all honesty I had an old f reg thing many years ago and used to spend half my time underneath it. Two years ago I bought my first P38 and spent an absolute fortune getting it right, it then rewarded me by dropping a liner. So it went in disgust and I vowed never again, but there is just...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Added "lake of water in passenger footwell after heavy rain" to the todo list. I'm quite sure these cars get jealous of you sitting in the house and do something that means you have to get your hands dirty on your day off. There is also some drips on top of the accelerator pedal. Guess I'm...
